About
Twin Draw is a tiny drawing app for two people.
You sign up, you get a 6-letter code, and you send it to one person. That's it. No followers, no feed, no algorithm, no "discover" tab. Just a square canvas you both share.
When they draw, you see it. Right away, while it's happening. The small green dot at the top tells you they're holding the pen. It's surprisingly nice.
What you can do
- Draw with them at the same time, on the same canvas
- Save the drawings you both want to keep, look back at them later
- Put their latest sketch on your iOS home screen with the widget
- Hold a drawing until they wake up, so it lands in their morning instead of their night
- Play a round of draw and guess, with no timer, so they can answer while you're asleep
- Leave a reaction, or one line, under what they drew
- Take the shared prompt when you don't know what to draw
- Pick from a clean palette (or use the color picker if you're picky)
- Undo, redo, clear, the usual stuff
The widget is the part most people end up loving. They draw something silly at lunch, and an hour later it's just sitting there next to your apps. You glance at it on the way to a meeting and you smile a little. That's the whole thing.
If you're far apart
Tell each other which city you're in and the app works out the rest. There are five widgets now: their latest drawing, their local time, the distance between you, the days you've been together, and the countdown to the next time you meet. Their clock and that countdown can run on your lock screen too, so it's there every time you pick up your phone.
You each set your sleep hours, and that's the part that matters most. Draw at midnight your time and the app holds it, then puts it on their home screen when they wake up.
Made for two
This isn't a social app. There are no profiles to browse and no way to "discover" other people. You pick a username, but the only person who ever sees it is the one you're paired with. You can only be paired with one person at a time, and you both have to agree by sharing the code. If you want to switch partners, you unpair and start over. That's a feature, not a limitation.
The only notification that makes a sound is them reacting or saying something. No streaks, no "you haven't drawn today", no nudges to come back.
Privacy, briefly
Email for sign-in. Strokes and saved drawings, synced to your partner. A device token so the widget can update. And whatever you choose to fill in for the two of you: your city, your sleep hours, your anniversary, the date you next meet. No GPS, ever. The distance is worked out from the two city names, nothing more precise than that. It's stored on Google Firebase in the EU. We don't sell it, we don't share it, and you can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Full policy at twindraw.app/privacy.
Things it doesn't do (yet)
- No video calling
- No messaging beyond a reaction or a single line on the canvas
- No iPad layout (it works, but it's clearly built for a phone)
Who it's for
Long-distance couples, friends who text in scribbles, parents drawing with kids on a tablet, anyone who has one specific person they'd like to leave a doodle for during the day. If that's you, you'll get it the first time you use it.
Made by one developer in a small room with a coffee. Feedback goes to damienyvert.dev@gmail.com; I read everything.
