About

U OK? is a quiet safety net for people who spend time alone. The core check-in is free. Once a day, you open the app and tap one button: I'm OK. That's the whole routine. If you don't check in — and don't respond during the grace period you chose — we send one text message to the emergency contact you picked. It tells them when you last checked in and links to a page with the details. Nothing more. HOW IT WORKS 1. Choose how often you want to check in: every 12, 24, 48 or 72 hours. 2. Choose how long we should wait after a missed check-in before contacting anyone: 15 minutes to 2 hours. 3. Add one person you trust. They get a short text when you add them, so they know what to expect. 4. Tap "I'm OK" when it's time. We remind you before your check-in is due. WHAT YOUR CONTACT RECEIVES If you miss a check-in, they get one SMS — not a stream of alerts. It names you, says when you last checked in, and includes a link. The link opens a simple page in their browser. There is nothing to install, no account to create, and we never ask them for payment details. The link expires 72 hours later. You can add a short note to any check-in ("I'm home, meeting friends soon"). If an alert is ever sent, your contact sees that note too. GOING AWAY? SNOOZE IT Travelling, in hospital, off the grid? Snooze your check-ins for as long as you need. No explanations, no penalty, nothing sent to anyone. WHAT WE DON'T DO - No location tracking. We never collect where you are. - No listening, no background monitoring, no wearables. - No streaks, no pressure, no guilt if you miss a day. - One alert per missed check-in. We don't spam the people who care about you. WHO IT'S FOR People who live alone. Solo travellers and hikers. People with a chronic condition. Older parents whose children live in another city. Anyone who wants someone to notice if something goes wrong — without being watched. U OK? is not an emergency service and does not contact the police or an ambulance. If you are in danger, call your local emergency number.
