Horrible app - CarPlay integration terrible

Don’t waste your money on this app. We had high hopes and got part way through a tour in Montreal. Once we stopped to walk around, we tried to continue and had a very difficult time getting back to where we were. The start stop function does not work on CarPlay, and I had to stop the car many times to try to get it to work again. The app kept trying to take us back to the starting point even though we told it where to start from. Furthermore, the tour info would play for a bit and as soon as there was a turn, it would cut off mid sentence and then not resume. Again, do not waste your money.

App out of sync, not user friendly

Took the driving tour of Philly. After missing just one turn, the app renumbered all the locations, and fell out of sync with the audio descriptions and other parts of the app. At one point after deciding to skip one site and move on using the buttons I. The app, it attempted to start the tour at site 1 again! Was not happy with the interface/app at all and would request my money back.

Washington DC

The navigation was awful and so was the audio. It keep cutting . Not recomended

Frustrating

We wanted to do a self guided New Orleans tour since we have our dog, we were so excited to have this option. However we quickly realized how completely frustrating this app is. It tries to reroute you back to streets that are closed, and every time we tried to start at a different POI it just goes back to the beginning. We got so frustrated at the time wasted we eventually gave up. I’m so disappointed and let down. Wasted time wasted money.

Not much content

I did the Little Tokyo walking tour. The app/navigation worked pretty well. Honestly, the navigation should have worked a little better. It was clunky and the interface wasn’t user friendly. The biggest issue was with the amount of content. There were only 10 “stops” on the tour. One of them was city hall which isn’t in Little Tokyo. At least two of the stops were just updates that you were going in the right direction. So, really, only 7 stops on the tour. The information was good but for FIFTEEN DOLLARS I was expecting a lot more. There is a lot to see in Little Tokyo and this tour barely scratched the surface. Not worth the money.

Breaking bad

Terrible waste of money will not navigate to next POI gets stuck in loop back to first stop narration just keeps repeating when you do arrive at next stop will not acknowledge being there and will start narration over from welcome to the tour frustrating waste of money.

City tours

The driving tour was good with a lot of information, if you can take the time and stop during some of the points.

Terrible App

We bought the tour for Charlotte. It worked fine until we ran into construction and were unable to get to the 9th stop. When we went around the construction the stop and start feature did not work. We tried to skip it and start on 10, the audio worked for 10 and then not 11. We tried to start it again on stop 12 the map seemed to take us to the wrong spot. There was supposed to be an old cemetery but it wasn’t there. Continued to have trouble with the audio and map. We gave up after stop 14 and called it quits. Don’t waste your money, there are better apps out there.

GREAT tour!

Absolutely fantastic information on all the homes. The app worked seamlessly! 4.5/5 stars. Would be a perfect 5 if the home values were updated to today’s market value. Home values are from 2020, which was an entirely different market than today (2026). Otherwise, great tour!

Terrible app

We visited Salt Lake City, and using the App was terrible! Story didn’t follow the gps points of interest. We eventually stopped using the app - a waste of $17.99.

Fun tour

The map and audio features worked perfectly. The directions and count of the stops got mixed up after we made a wrong turn, but we were able to complete the tour using the directions on the map.

Very poor navigation

Tours are not free. We paid $14.99 for ours in the app. A true ripoff of lousy tech and AI scripted generic information from Google. The app will not self adjust route properly for detours, wrong turns etc. The app picks up the closest waypoint and proceeds to it based on proximity regardless of whether the user has already been there. So, for example, when moving from waypoint 5 to 6 we were diverted for construction. Because the reroute took us close to previous point 3 the navigation simply took us to waypoint 4. The map is horrible for adjustments and lacks stable zoom and suffers from poor visibility. There’s no ability to skip to a different waypoint. The “to your right stands historical location” was wrong almost every time. We eventually gave up on our tour.

Unusable App - Avoid

This app has promise but extraordinarily under delivers. It’s such a klunky interface, the GPS doesn’t work as one would anticipate, and you can’t move along the route at your own pace. To turn the GPS on you need to start at the beginning rather than being able to meet you where you are. The GPS tour is a fallacy.

I concur with the frustration level

I was looking forward to a simple self-guided driving tour in NY. Sadly it took multiple starts and stops to complete our tour. The app skipped stops, stopped mid-location description, misinterpreted driving moves and basically took twice as long as advertised due to poor performance. We enjoy the content but not the experience.

Nope. Don’t do it for Savannah

Incredibly repetitive. Had to restart a dozen times to get it to work correctly also. Not new to these types of apps and this one is not my jam. They repeat facts on every stop and tell you to drive when she has a full min of info to share. Cut out the repeating narrative and it would work better. I requested a refund but looks like a no. Waste of money.

Didn’t work as advertised

Great idea in theory but NOT in execution.
Could not see turn by turn directions on car screen, only phone. Kept taking us in circles instead of going to next stop and kept repeating same description.

Good tours. Horrible app experience

As others have mentioned, the tours are generally ok but using the app is pretty frustrating.

Skip it

Tried to use this app for a walking tour. The UX is awful. Navigation is miserable. You can’t move the map to try to get to the starting place. And because the audio isn’t read by an actual human who knows the area or dialect, the pronunciation is laughable. It makes it genuinely difficult to even understand. I ended up liking VoiceMap MUCH better and bought several tours there that were awesome.

Frustrating App

Agree w other reviewers that note app is frustrating - while the narrative is good, the map function is dizzying (constantly spins!) and ability to pick up where you left off after a stop does not function well.

Unfortunate choice of an app

Downloaded Washington DC DuPont circle, intended to walk to start point, app design allows for drive directions only. Dissatisfaction. Connected to gps with difficulty, ended up with starting on location No3, 1 and 2 did not worked for us. Biggest disappointment was the content of narration. Very little history, that DC has in abundance, pointing to embassy flags and location that are very visible without an app. Stoppped using after 30 minutes. Maybe other tours are better, I wouldn’t know.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience with the DuPont Circle tour didn’t meet your expectations. To clarify, when the app detects that you're far from the starting point, it provides directions to help you get there—these are shown as driving directions by default but can absolutely be followed on foot. Once you arrive near the starting point, the app automatically switches to walking mode and begins the guided experience. We are local to Washington, DC, and take our tours very seriously. Our production team is currently reviewing this tour to ensure it meets the high standards we aim for in both navigation and narration. We also sincerely apologize for the GPS connectivity issues and the fact that your tour began at Stop 3 instead of Stop 1. This can occasionally happen in dense urban environments, and we’re constantly working on improvements to minimize that kind of disruption. Finally, we’d love the chance to make it up to you. Please reach out through our Contact Us page, and we’ll be happy to offer you a free tour of your choice. Thank you again for your feedback—it truly helps us improve. —The UCPlaces Team
