I'm thinking...
Second (and probably final) update: A-nope: getting both women to Level 80 does not open either of those gates. I now have every one of the various levels in the game at or above 80 and the gates remain locked...so yes, it's clear that the developer(s) abandoned this game before they ever made those gates open. Which means there's no reason for me to continue playing, because there's nothing left to achieve. Oh well. I love the idea of the game; too bad it just couldn't have been fleshed out into something deeper and more rewarding.
Update: Well, I've gotten my career woman to Level 80 and no – neither of those "Level 80" gates has opened for me. The only possibility that remains is that I have to get both my career woman and my romantic woman to level 80...but it seems highly unlikely to me that that will open the gates when getting one of them to level 80 doesn't even open the gate that corresponds to her path. So I think this game is probably just abandonware that was abandoned before the developers figured out how to deal with those gates. Too bad.

...that the gate that unlocks at Level 80 refers to your character's level and not...whatever the other level is. (Why any game places you at multiple different levels at the same time I've never been able to figure out – all that does is create confusion.) At least I'm hoping that's the case, because I hit "Level 80" about 40 levels ago and the gates are still not unlocked, but my characters are only at level 39, so I'm figuring that must be the level they're referring to. I guess I'll find out some eternity from now when I finally get my characters to level 80.
As for the game itself and overall, I love it. I'm male, I love women, was raised by women, and have a lot of of woman in me as a result, and this game kind of lets me revel in my feminine side. The part about having kids does not connect with me and I was hoping I'd be able to avoid that altogether, but it's part of the game's progress so I decided to go with it. And I hope the women in orange and red are to be seen as women attempting to stand in our way, and that we're not supposed to let them. Because I keep knocking them down and hoping that that's what I'm supposed to be doing lol. I'm enjoying running it over and over; I do just hope those gates unlock when I get my characters to Level 80. Time will tell!
