App is abandoned

This app is awesome however I say that as a user from when this app was being updated. I wish someone else would take it over because it has seemingly been abandoned. No new cards have been added in a long time making the database useless for deck building. If you want to look up something as relatively new as Amonkhet you’ll be out of luck as it still hasn’t been added. Its an awesome app otherwise and again I wish someone else would take it over and keep it updated because the UI is fantastic and its sorting/organizing features are everything I want in this sort of MTG app. But at this point it has absolutely been abandoned and Im more then willing to give it another chance if it suddenly comes back to life but until that day happens I’m keeping this review.

Great functionality

This is a great app and I use it all the time to brainstorm decks and keep track of things I’m thinking of buying. This guy deserves five stars, because the design is really smooth. However, this guy needs to figure out some way to keep this thing going and find out how to update it more frequently and maintain it cause the set releases take over a month after their actual release dates to patch in and I’ve noticed that there used to be an Oath of Gatewatch set in here and it disappeared lol so while it’s an awesome app and this guy did a stellar job—upkeep is the only thing.

It’s missing something

First off it’s great. You can sort by cmc, rarity, set, color, card type it even has card prices. All that good stuff. The thing that is holding this back from being the best app is the lack of updates. Which when building any deck including a commander deck is kind of a big problem, not seeing all the options. It’s really annoying to try and remember to trim down the deck more than it feels like you should because you need to put in a couple cards from the most recent sets.

Awesome App! Slow updates

This is the best bang for your buck app I’ve found, with a one time payment that is relatively small you get access to a deck simulator and a smattering of deck stats. All relevant information is provided with helpful rulings on the cards as well as pricing and filters to find cards. However the updates are very sparse so there will be a backlog of sets you can’t build decks with, luckily I’m not a standard player but it is a big bummer to not be able to utilize the app to its fullest. It’s awesome and a great deal, if you are an eternal player then the delays will just be annoying but if you need to build and test decks with sets from the last year or so then you might not get a lot out of the app.

Thank the Lord

Ever since the creator of iMtG went off the deep end and made his app subscription-based, I have been searching for a viable replacement for ages. This app does a fantastic job of fulfilling all my Magic customization and deck exploration needs. My only gripe is the lack of card browsing options. You cannot customize how you view lists of searched cards on your screen, from what I can tell so far. Hopefully, the creator will add this feature soon. I always liked to browse card filters in rows of two, but frankly this app is great enough.

Awesome app with one drawback.

I so wanted to give this app 5 stars but I just can’t do it. Now this is just an actual review not some jab at the developer. So if you are looking for an app to reference cards and price look no further. I am easily able to navigate cards alphabetically, by set, by rarity by casting cost by oracle wording and so on and so on. I find this better than wizards card database. æ can be a pain to find the price for though because there is a miscommunication between the app and the website. The one problem that should be fixed to everyone’s benefit would be the timely release of new sets. Now this is only a problem because it is one man handling everything. That’s a lot to do just by yourself. Now once he gets around to releasing the new sets all becomes right in the world again with the app. That being said get this app. Pay for this app. Support this app in any way you can. Thank you.

Simple, Easy, and All-Around Good

This app is my main go-to for deck building, finding cards I can’t remember names of, or finding new ones. It has a precise filter system that even allows you to search for specific texts of a card, or specific artists. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new Deck-building app.

It does have some problems however. Firstly, there’s a significant time lapse between a set’s release and it’s appearance on the app. Some side sets (Vintage Masters, Archenemy Nicol Bolas, etc.) aren’t even listed. There’s a bug (or perhaps an oversight) that lists all cards from the Tarkir Block and Modern Masters sets as illegal in Modern. The app doesn’t include sideboard cards in the deck’s total price, and there is no filter for online-exclusive sets.

That aside, most problems are either nit-picks or minor inconveniences.

Minor bugs, great for deck builds...

Some minor bugs exist but all in all a great app for a free limited version. Still enough to build your decks digitally and check card prices all at once, although you could pay a few bucks and unlock more such as deck statistics and a few more useful tools. Not many MTG pricing apps on the App Store, this is my favorite so far and I've been searching for a couple years. This app is very useful for on the go deck-building! Give it a shot and don't forget to update your card database to get the most up-to-date information and newly release cards not automatically installed with the app.

Amazing app, horrible dev communication and updating speed.

This is one of the better magic deck building apps that there is and is also good for financing since you can track prices, but the painfully slow updating and little to no communication from devs on updating the app, and even putting the new sets into the app really hold its back. It's been almost a month since the newest magic set Ixalan released, and we still don't even have Hour of Devastation and Command 2017 in the app yet as well as a bug with Modern Masters 2017 that we still don't know if the devs will fix or even update since we haven't heard anything from them in two months.

App support MIA?

I have had the pro version for sometime now. Found a glitch that won't allow me to filter through a collection or deck. It all just disappears. This is a major one for me since I use this app to go through my cards quickly and efficiently rather than spending hours going through what I have and reading everything to find what I need. I wrote app support quite some time ago... not even a response. Come to find, last update was in 2015. Lasted me awhile I guess, just disappointed I boasted this app so much for it to not work now.

Previous review: This app has everything. Makes lists of your decks, collections, search by type, set, color, keyword, anything. You can check your mana curve. I LOVE this app so much I bought the pro version. I would like to see a life counter but no biggie.

Quick & easy deck brewing tool

I'm hooked. Fast, super easy to use, and even works off-line. Constantly creating and altering decks any time I have a spare minute. You can back up decks to dropbox, or attach them to an email, as both a text list and .dec file which can be imported with one touch by anybody with the app. Upgraded to pro within days, mainly for the deck stats. The free version already seems to be ad free.
My only complaint is the legality of cards is not always correct as cards rotate out of standard. I haven't thought to check to see if banned and unrestricted list cards have current status. But really, all you have to do for that is cross reference the official list.
I've tried a lot of apps for Magic, and this is the best one I've tried so far. I haven't even looked since getting this. It does everything I need it to do.

Great app!

This is a really incredible app. It works offline and its incredibly easy to make decks and judge their price range. The complaints I have are so minor that I didn't reduce this to four stars. When you use the app offline the playing feature where you get to see your starting hand doesn't work well and I wish that on the prices there was a link to whatever website it's using to find these prices. Great app overall I really recommend it.

Great Magic App

Great app for reviewing cards on the fly, trading, and deck building. Everything runs fast and hardly any loading times on images. Only complaints are that there isn't yet a search option for "Colorless" spells, and that devoid spells fall under colorless so if you're searching in a particular color, then the cards of that color with devoid won't show up. Both are minor issues that you can work around.

Solid MTG app with a few small issues.

Great reference and deck management app. In the current state, it is well worth the four dollars.
Just a few issues: crashes in cover flow and screen rotation, some typos in the UI, adding sideboard cards is not as smooth as other functions, images sometimes not loading or low resolution, sometimes text overlaps in the deck breakdown graphs.
An option to load images and other information offline would be nice.

Good, but could be great

I would love to see more offline features, such as the option to store card pics and prices for offline use. Currently, although the app does work offline, not all pictures are visible. This means that card info is not reliably visible offline. It would also be nice to be able view the card text without having to look at the picture.

A current bug: filtering in the search for standard legality does not current include Oath of the Gatewatch. This is annoying when trying to build new decks.

Otherwise, this is a very solid app and I look forward to future updates

Stellar with one complaint:

The app is solid, but my one complaint is the lack of speedy updates to the database. I've been waiting some time for the commander sets to be added and with Oath out the database is falling short.

I work at a hobby shop and I use this app to check prices regularly as it speeds up my efficiency, but with the updates falling behind, I'm forced to use the tcgplayer website, costing me few seconds at first but builds up over time, and mtg customers are very very impatient.

Other than that, this app is phenomenal.

Great magic app

Really all-around a great app. Let's you search cards by name, type, color, text, etc. You can create decklists, see card prices, and includes links to the Gatherer site. Or if you are like me you click random card and just sit around flipping through them.

There are a few minor inconveniences, like not being able to filter by creatures' power or toughness. But the pros far outweigh the cons.

I use this app on a regular basis and would easily recommend it to anyone looking for a magic app.

The best, hopefully still IS the best

So rumor going around is the app is done, over. I sincerely hope that is not the case. This app is by far amazing, accurate, and just above all stroller. I literally use this app everyday, every tournament, every time. I understand life happens or things come up. But I just hope the developers didn't just give up cause some shmuck, gave a bad review or complained about probably the best Magic app out there, and for FREE!!! Much love y'all, please reconsider if y'all thinkin bout throwing in the towel.

Everything you'll need to take your game to the next level

Excellent card info, ruling on cards, price guide to say the least. Complete list of every set, and if for some reason you can't find it, then check back the following day and I bet there will be an update waiting for you! The only complaint I have, well if you can even call it that. Is some of the more rare cards don't have a price to them although it makes me think they're worth a lot, lol. But with this app you'll be able to keep track of what cards you have in your collection and the ones you need. It's a must have for any Magic the Garthing collector, player, or a newbie wanting to get there feet wet!

Stellar Magic app with few flaws

Looking for Magic related apps has been relatively difficult. Many of them may have been good at one time, but slowly developers stopped working on them and have not even made it to iOS 8.
uMagic lets me browse cards from every set, see their prices and create decks/collections.
The extra money I spent ($4) for the "pro version" has paid off as well. I can view my deck stats, and the app stays ad free.
The cons to this app are some minor ones, but still show this app could be improved upon and if kept up to date will be the best option for Magic players using iOS as another tool. Sometimes card images won't load, and when they do it is not in a high resolution. Not a huge gripe, but improvement in that area adds to the fullness of uMagic.
I have ran across some bugs before the last update that caused recent sets to crash the app and led me to re-install the app to get them working. Since then I have been very happy with uMagic and use it regularly.
I highly recommend this app for Magic players looking to keep track of their decks and collections on iOS. If the developer keeps improving it there will be no other options in the App Store.
