About

Plan your travels around the places the world agreed to protect. Unescovery puts every site on the UNESCO World Heritage List on one map, shows you why each one was listed, and, for a growing set of places, tells the story in annotated photos and an audio guide. It is free to use. A MAP OF EVERY WORLD HERITAGE SITE • Every UNESCO World Heritage site worldwide on one travel map: historic city centres, cathedrals, castles, monuments, archaeological sites and natural landmarks. • The Colosseum, the Sagrada Família, the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, the Great Wall of China, the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Pompeii, Stonehenge and Angkor Wat are all on the map, alongside hundreds of places you may never have heard of. • Open a country to see all of its sites. For most sites the map also draws the outline of the protected area, so you can see where it begins and ends. • Inside large sites, separate pins for the places that make them special, wherever we have mapped them. WHY EACH SITE MATTERS • Every site opens the official UNESCO description and the criteria it was listed under: what makes the place exceptional, in one tap. • Photos for many of the sites. STORIES AND AN AUDIO GUIDE, A GROWING SET • Selected places get hand-made stories. Photos carry arrows and callouts that show exactly where to look, and the history, architecture and culture behind them are explained in plain language. • The audio guide reads each story aloud, photo by photo, in your phone's own voice. Hold the photo to pause. • New places are being added. SIGHTSEEING THAT MAKES SENSE Heritage sites are easy to walk past without knowing what you are looking at. This travel guide is for curious travellers who want to understand a place, not just tick it off: the landmark, the story behind it and the reason it matters to the whole world. MADE BY ONE TRAVELLER Unescovery is made by a single independent developer with a passion for travel and for discovering the world's culture and nature. GOOD TO KNOW • Free to use. • All content is in English. • The app needs an internet connection. Independent guide. Official site descriptions come from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
