When it works, by connecting properly, it’s fine. Having the ability to update OTA is terrific, but this app has huge problems staying or being able, to reconnect.

Buggy Mess
I’ve been attempting to update the firmware for my Uniden R8W. After 30+ minutes of struggle it finally decided to do a DB update using the WiFi. Then I tried pairing the device back to the app after the update and now it won’t pair lol. What a mess. $800 device btw.
Need single frequency low strength filter
My 2026 CT5 constantly falses at Ka 35.100 one bar strength , probably from the entertainment system. Lowering Ka sensitivity to 80% doesn’t help. Need a low strength Ka frequency filter without merely blocking off an entire Ka segment.
Will Not Connect
I have tried many times to get this to connect to my R8 with no success. I use R8 Companion with no issues with connections.

Terrible
Sometimes it connects, most times it doesn’t. Have to delete and reinstall often to connect to R8W detector. Would be a great app (I think) if connectivity issues were corrected. It’s disappointing.
One problem
Works brilliant with my new R8w. But there’s one huge problem: the app image does not rotate when my iPhone lies on its side, which is the holder I have for my iPhone on the dash.. So as far as I’m concerned, this is pretty useless.

Needs CarPlay Functionality
Works great for being able to change settings easily on the r8w. If this had the ability to work with CarPlay, I’d be all in.
R8 update on WIFI?
Best Radar I’ll ever own, all I can say is that Uniden Detector saved me from getting into trouble way too many times.
Great companion app
App allows you to easily customize your detector (I’m using the R8). It also allows you to run the detector “dark”, with the display off, for stealth as all display elements are replicated in the app (I look at my phone instead of the detector to see the alerts). It also lets you know if there are any software updates to install.

Hopeless, doesn’t work
No connection
Will not connect to app on iPhone using r8w Detector shows it’s connected to WiFi and Bluetooth but the app can’t find anything even though the detector is on

When i try to go to expert settings the app defaults back to basic. I uninstalled and reinstalled and still same issue. App is current
Ios 17 v1.5.1 of App. Still not fixed R8
The app connects to my R8 but I cannot make any changes to the settings. Also, I can’t select advanced.

It’s pretty crazy that this app will not update over Bluetooth for the R8. And where is the laser support that you promised us?!? Talk about bait and switch.

Wish it worked with CarPlay
I want to like this app but I hardly use it I don’t need 2 maps open and having my phone on during the entire ride is a bit annoying having to look at my phone and then my nav map , I wish it worked with car play might switch over to the escort systems for that feature
