Not accessible for mentally ill or people with ideological trauma
There is no way to block seeing triggering words and phrases. Unvale promotes posts with triggering exclusionary identity politics terminology which is very harmful to people with ideological trauma from that culture. I really liked unvale but I can’t keep being exposed to the culture of shaming, exclusion, and identity hierarchies that gave me a severe trauma disorder and made me believe I should k*11 myself. If they are going to promote hurtful ideology they need to let people block posts that contain it. And I’m even a leftist saying that.
It is also not a good app for adults because most users are children/teens so there’s not really a way to make mutuals here unless you are also a child. And being young, users take part in groupthink and encourage misinformation, and I’ve seen a lot of callouts and harassment even though unvale says that is not allowed. Adding to that, I think it’s wrong to expose children to frameworks that exclude and shame certain “identities” and sort their worth based on those categories, which is what unvale promotes probably under the guise of being “inclusive,” but in reality it is very exclusionary and marks some people less valuable because of their identity group. And that is not healthy for children (or adults) to absorb over and over again.

Okay so like this is great because first of all, so many ideas. And also communities! (Btw whenever I try changing my profile picture I can’t find a confirm button maybe try scaling down the area where you put an image.) Still really great though.

Best app ever but if possible, maybe could you add a way to message people privately? other than that, if you want somewhere to share your characters in your art, and your worlds, get this app now it is amazing

I originally heard about it on YouTube when I came across it on YouTube Shorts. I decided I’d give it a shot and oh my word.
Like I said, I feel right at home. Everyone is super sweet and just wants to share their art and experiences! I think it helps that there’s a lot of queer and neurodivergent folks on the app. We share wins, losses, ships, drama, art, stories and more. My art isn’t very popular, but that’s ok. I like the community Unvale brings. 10/10

I love this app alot I still hate that the characters aren’t what I see when I load up but this app is over all amazing.

only thing I can think of is that there’s no way to easily switch between accounts, and a lot of things like username changes and deleting accounts is managed by staff, but given the app is only a year old I’m sure that’ll get fixed.

Can’t login :(
I ended up having to change my password on my account cuz it said it failed to login or that it was the wrong one, and then when I finally changed it, it still says the same :(
Disappointing
This app and when it was only a website used to be really fun. It was easy to find what was going on, and I could see other people’s creations on the homepage and was able to select what type of art I could look at even if I wanted to be a different newest oldest or oldest newest post he used to be really easy to follow and now there’s post and community section. It’s more complicated and the homepage is different now and I’ve been slowly not using the salt together. When the app came out, I was super excited until more and more they started changing. I liked it how it was better without the post and communities sections now it’s a lot hard to use and I’ve been slowly using it less less and it’s harder for me to share my art with everybody because I’m not used to any of it Decatur or anyone else who is able to change this app knows how to change it. Please do so change it back to how it was used to do it every single day and I. too confusing and it’s always stuck on a dark mode and I wish there’s a way if you could change it to lighter or darker. A coffee feature might even see to add for how it was originally I think would be a good idea. Is that just you can edit the background color and design kind of on characters you post I think it would be cool to be able to do that on your creations area where all your stuff in your profile is

Sorry to hear! We have been trying to grow with our community. With so many new users and content it can be harder than ever to get seen. Communities has been a way of self-organizing into smaller groups so you can still have that original Unvale experience. We will work towards improving each day so maybe we can win you back. Also, we have the ability now to set the homepage to character explore, so the experience is exactly as you remember it. Check it out! It might be what you are looking for.

I love Unvale but…
I love this website so much, and it’s helped me build an audience with my characters and stories! However, the recent updates to the algorithms have totally butchered the engagement I get on my posts, to the point no one even interacts with my stuff that much. It seems more popular peoples stuff is shown more and the app is becoming a game of luck to get noticed. It really sucks and now just feels like every other social media app. What a shame it is :(

Unvale is a great art-sharing platform for me. I like how you can have a community and stuff, but the only problem is the OC sharing. I keep my OCs private because I want them to stay between my friends and me, but sharing private OCs is impossible. I tried sharing the URL to the OC, but all my friends say they only see the placeholder image. You guys should add a feature for sharing private OCs that doesn't require all this extra work, like letting us include the usernames of the people we want to share the OC with while keeping it private.

Hi ICEE, This is a great idea! It sounds like you want a space for just you and your friends to share work that functions differently from the private pages. Private pages should be viewable via a direct URL! It's possible they work on the web and are having difficulty with the app? We will continue to work on improving! Been using this since 2024 and im so glad the app is out!! Its so useful and convenient for organizing your characters and stories, world building, the staff has always been so helpful and kind. I love it

Most things are fine, runs smooth, good design, and can make people like me feel understood.
Just a few things
This app is great, and it has one of the most wholesome communities I have ever seen online. However, there are a few things that I think could/should be improved.
First of all is the content warnings/blurring. While I think having it at all is really good, it doesn’t always help due to the lack of options. Surprisingly, there is no gore (despite their being violence and death) option, meaning any kind of gore has to be censored using ‘other’. It also sucks that you can’t write custom reasons under ‘other’, because it means people have to put trigger warnings in their title for people to know why it’s being censored.
Secondly, I’ve been having some issues with typing on there. The highlighting of words when typing is extremely glitchy and doesn’t work properly. I’m not sure if that’s something that can be fixed on your end, but I would really appreciate being able to highlight things to change them.
Thirdly, I think it would be cool to have the option to have one post be posted to more than one community, and to also be able to display the communities you are in on your profile.
And lastly, it would be great if the pronouns you set on your profile could appear next to your username in your posts and comments, that way people can tell how to refer to you without needing to go to your profile.
Once again, I really love this app and these are just some things I personally think would help to improve it.

I CANT post ANYTHING! Like anything at all, I tried posting a world that took 8 minutes to write the description alone by the way, an it glitched and disappeared with all my progress, fix the app please
Really annoying glitch
I do prefer Toyhouse in terms of databasing my OCs for its way more in-depth sorting options, but I was immediately captivated by the community-focused nature of Unvale and the reactivity of the other users. However, there is one aspect I find infuriating— I will spend a decent chunk of time sorting images only for them to revert the moment I save, and I’m not a huge fan of the app for that alone as I’m an incredibly organized person.

Love it! Some issues though.
While I love Unvale and use the website version on my computer, I wanted easier access so I got the app. It’s very clean and easy to understand however for some reason none of my likes/follows or notifications have been working. I click them and they either don’t load or deselect the choice I made. Not sure if this is a problem on my end as I have an older phone but I really want to use the app, and everything else seems to work fine 😫🙏.
