UPSA Academic Governance

UPSA Academic Governance is the official digital platform for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) — built to modernise how students and lecturers manage attendance, schedules, and academic administration. Originally developed as a groundbreaking Location-Based Electronic Attendance System (LEAS) by Abdul Aziz Mansir, a student of UPSA, the system was officially adopted by the university and praised by Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor at the 2025 matriculation ceremony. This app is the next evolution - a full Academic Governance System enhanced through real-world usage and continuous student and lecturer feedback. SMART ATTENDANCE WITH GEOLOCATION Mark and verify attendance in real time using GPS geolocation. Lecturers can confirm that students are physically present on campus before attendance is recorded - eliminating proxy sign-ins and paper registers entirely. TIMETABLE & SCHEDULE MANAGEMENT View your full weekly class schedule at a glance. The system supports intelligent timetable generation, helping both students and lecturers stay on top of their academic commitments without confusion or clashes. ATTENDANCE ANALYTICS & REPORTING Lecturers can monitor class attendance trends in real time. Students can track their own attendance records across all enrolled courses — keeping everyone accountable and informed. PROGRAMME EVENTS & ACTIVITIES Stay updated on programme-specific events, academic activities, and university announcements — all consolidated in one place. CONCERN REPORTING Students and staff can raise academic or administrative concerns directly through the app. The structured reporting system ensures issues are documented and can be followed up efficiently. PROFILE MANAGEMENT View and manage your academic profile, including your department, programme, and contact details. Lecturers and students each have tailored profile views suited to their roles. SECURE & ROLE-BASED ACCESS Authentication is handled via institutional email with OTP verification - ensuring only registered UPSA students and staff can access the system. Role-based access ensures lecturers and students see only what is relevant to them. OFFICIALLY ADOPTED BY UPSA This is not a third-party tool - it is the official system developed and deployed for the University of Professional Studies, Accra. The platform has been authorised by UPSA IT Directorate and Academic Affairs, and is actively used across campuses. MASTER'S PROJECT - REAL-WORLD IMPACT Developed as part of a Master's programme at UPSA, this system demonstrates how student-led innovation can solve real institutional challenges.
