Works great on IOS 9.3.5 in 2021
I am using the free version right now and love it. The voice is not the best but it works, and being able to program the buttons has been HUGE for me. I can only do three with the free version, I have yes, no, and ok. I have tried some apps I prefer on my phone but I definitely prefer to type on my iPad and this is the best app I found that supports 9.3.5. Once I get some money I will look into the not free version if I decide that this is still the best app for me. I'm planing on looking into some other free options with more buttons and see how I like that. I love this app, I would like more buttons and a better voice but other than that it's pretty perfect

Best app available for persons unable to speak
Very Pleased!
The voices are not perfect, but way, way, better than most that I've sampled. I like that you can adjust speed and pitch of the voices which gives you even more flexibility.
You will never fool anyone that this a real person speaking, but it's pretty convincing for the applications most people will use it for.
Some others have suggested improvements which I agree with, and perhaps they will make those improvements.
I bought the upgraded full version to use during a severe laryngitis period and was able to actually have fun conversing during dinners with my wife while not straining my voice! I saved several stock phrases like, "Oh really, tell me more." and "What happened next?" which I could just click on to keep the conversation going.
All in all, I give it a great rating, and hope they upgrade it soon. Money well-spent!
