About

UsedCarCheck is a pre-purchase inspection checklist for anyone about to buy a used car. It walks you through 60 checks across 8 areas of the vehicle, from the paint on the panels to the title in the seller's hand, so you arrive at the viewing with a plan instead of a hunch. Open a category, work down the list, and tap each item as you clear it. A counter at the top shows how many of the 60 checks you have completed, so you can stop, walk around the car, and pick up exactly where you left off. WHAT YOU CAN DO - Check the exterior for mismatched paint, uneven panel gaps, rust on rocker panels and wheel wells, and bubbling under the paint - Check the interior for water stains, mould smell, dashboard warning lights at startup, and an odometer that matches the listed mileage - Read the engine bay: oil and coolant condition, milky residue on the oil cap, belts, hoses, and a bay degreased just before the viewing - Look under the car for fresh drips, exhaust rust holes, rust on the frame rails, and repair welds - Judge the tires: matching brands, tread depth, uneven wear, sidewall bulges, and a spare packed with the jack and tools - Run the electronics: infotainment, Bluetooth pairing, backup camera, power outlets, headlights, brights and fog lights - Drive it properly: starting without extended cranking, idle, transmission shifts, braking, steering pull, vibration at highway speed and cruise control - Close the paperwork: a title in the seller's name and free of liens, the VIN matched on the dash and door jamb, service records, a history report - Track your progress as you go, and reset the whole list, after a confirmation, when you go to see the next car WHO IT IS FOR First time buyers who do not know what to look at. Private sale buyers, where there is no dealer check and no warranty. Anyone comparing several cars over a few weekends, or anyone who wants a record of what was checked before making an offer. PRIVACY Your checklist stays on your device. There is no account, no sign up and no server, and the app makes no network requests, so it works with no signal in a driveway or a back lot. UsedCarCheck is a guide for your own walk around and test drive. It is not a mechanical diagnosis and it does not replace a professional pre-purchase inspection by a licensed mechanic, which the checklist itself tells you to book before you buy.
