About

VADO records your bike rides on its own. Nothing to press when you leave, nothing to press when you arrive. Set your home and work locations once. After that the app sleeps with GPS off, wakes when you leave one of them, checks that you are really cycling, and records the whole ride. It finishes when you arrive and draws the route on a map. WHAT YOU GET Every ride as a list entry and a route on a map Distance, duration, average and top speed, elevation gain Rides between home and work marked as commutes Totals by week, month and year, with the CO2 saved against the same distance by car PRIVACY Your rides stay on your phone. There is no account and no login. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you turn on one of the two sharing options yourself, and each one shows you exactly what it would send before you agree. Strava: send finished rides to your own Strava account. Places board: send a workplace, a date and a distance to a board that ranks workplaces and never people, with no identifier of any kind. No analytics. No crash reporting. No advertising. No tracking. VADO needs Always location access, because a ride that records only while the app is open would not be automatic. Between rides it waits on geofences rather than GPS, so it costs very little battery at rest.

What's New in VADO ~ bike commute tracker

1.3.0

October 9, 2026

- A new typeface, ABC Areal by Dinamo: easier to read, with numbers and data set in its monospaced companion. - A new screen at the end of setup explains where to keep your phone while riding, so rides aren't missed. You see it once after updating. - The Board tab now shows how many people sharing with the board are riding right now, in your workplace's province and everywhere. - What leaves your phone: with sharing on, while VADO records any ride, commute or not, it tells the board's server that a ride is under way, with a random code new for each ride and your workplace's province. The server forgets it when the ride ends, or after two hours. The count is shown to anyone on VADO's website. If you already share, you are not asked again; the privacy policy describes it. The switch is now called "Share with your workplace".
