Vandens kelias

The project "Development of neighbouring countries joining waterway for sustainable tourism and cooperation" is implemented by Association “Nemuno euroregionas” (until November 1, 2021, Public institution Nemunas Euroregion Marijampolė bureau was the partner of the project), State enterprice Lithuanian Inland Waterways Directorate and Polish Association "Euroregion Niemen". It is partially financed by the Lietuva-Polska cross-border cooperation program of 2014-2020, and partners. The estimated duration of the project is from November 1, 2020 to July 31, 2022. The main goal of this project is to create a waterway (route) connecting Lithuania and Poland on the Augustow Canal and the Nemunas River in order to promote safer tourism and popularize sustainable natural and cultural heritage sites, increase tourism flows and longer stays of tourists in the border region, and accelerate the recovery of tourism after the pandemic.
