What's New in VaultDrive

5.0

July 11, 2026

This update improves iCloud-aware backups, backup reliability, and library insights. You can now choose to download iCloud-only originals before backup, with a Wi‑Fi-only option and clearer guidance about how iCloud Photos affects backup time. Backup progress now shows better iCloud download status, handles stalled downloads more reliably, and explains skipped cloud-only items more clearly. Statistics & History now opens faster with cached results, supports explicit rescans, and shows more detailed source/folder-level stats where available. Backup reliability has also been improved with better resume behavior, clearer grouped skip/failure reasons, improved USB drive path display, stronger completion tracking, and better drive reconciliation. Settings and help screens have been simplified, updated FAQ/Terms/How To Use content, and new iCloud education screens.

User reviews

Painfully slow and hit or miss, website says free, yet the important features require a pro purchase

**update 7/12/26** with the newest release, I’ve finally been able to complete a backup locally to my x9 pro. Hopefully things continue to improve as the app is updated.

**Original review**
I’ve only been using this app for a few hours and so far it’s been unsuccessful at completing a backup. Paired my Crucial X9 Pro 2TB SSD and my iPhone 15Pro, currently encrypted backup is not supported but it is in progress. I’ve tried exFat, apfs, and so far neither will successfully finish a backup. Once it begins, it fails photo after photo everytime.

Response from developer

Thank you for the feedback , so sorry about the issue you are facing …. version 3.0 supports only the media that stored on your phone locally, please check if you have enabled the iPhone storage optimization in your iPhone settings , if so Apple stores the original files in iCloud and only preview is available on your phone , so VaultDrive might have skipped those media Today we have released 5.0 version , with new features and stability, now you can choose the download from iCloud first then transfer the media to your external drive automatically, also we have added more informative details on how this works in VaultDrive, The speed of the backup is depends on the read and write speed of the external drive, wifi/cellular speed and iCloud servers response. In next release we are making some changes to encryption backup , soon this feature will be enabled as well Please give it a try the latest version of the App and if you see any issues during backup contact us at sales@coticsy.com

Excellent, I was able to backup 30GB of my local media to my USB drive in under 15 minutes

It’s very nice app , I was able to backup photos videos files and documents which are stored in my iPhone with just simple two clicks and it took under 15 minutes, I have used sandisk usb drive which better read write speeds

Also, I was able to backup media and files which are in iCloud and directly to my USB drive , this iCloud download option is one of the best option I have ever tried .
