Great

It’s a very useful app.

Unique and Helpful App for Writers

This writing app is helpful in ways that don’t compare with any other app I’ve found. On the ipad, you have a centered, uncluttered writing space. To each side are panels that are pulled into view. The left panel automatically produces an outline of whatever you are writing composed of each heading and paragraph. You can reorder and delete each item. The left panel reveals an on-going definition, homonym, and synonym of each word you type. As you type, each word is spoken back to you as well as entire sentence. Why is all this so fantastic? Because it gives you a perspective on your own writing beyond that of your own subjectivity in the moment. Do you know the difference between sensing how you look, and viewing a photo of how you look? There’s a difference, right? This app is the only app that provides this difference while you are in the process of writing. You might think it gets in the way of writing, but I’ve found that it improves my insight into what I’m really trying to say. Compared to the countless writing apps available, this writing app stands apart in a very good way.

I used to love the app but with the update and name change it keeps crashing!

Name Change! Why?

I see your version update jumped from 1.7 to 2.0 just for changing a name. For real? Anyways, I don’t understand why you’d abandon a very popular name like “voice dream writer.” VDWrite sound so ordinary and very boring. At least your keeping the iconic logo. But I sincerely hope you reverse the decision to change the name.

Love Voice Dream Writer!

Solely for the awesome synonym-finder in the fourth column on the far right. This is exactly what I need for creative writing! Glad the app still works!

Amazing

I have just accessed the Voice Dream Writer and I am speechless. It is so easy to use and so effective. I tutor children with dyslexia and it will be a Godsend. I can’t wait to use it with them. It is very simple, but I don’t underestimate the work it took to produce. And so reasonably priced. And… I will also be using it myself at a personal level and giving it to my granddaughter for her birthday.
Thank you so much

Awesome!

This writing program does everything I need it to and more. There is a thesaurus, dictionary, spell checker, plus it will read it back to you. The voice selection is unbeatable. I love the exceptional voice of "Julie" and can't find it anywhere else (except voice dream reader).

Stunning update failure

I have really appreciated having this app. I have used it a lot for years now.

Problem is, with the newest update it deleted all of my saved documents, and crashes when I try to use the functions to create a new document or search for an old one. I am rather stunned, because in all of the years of using this app, I have never thought that updating it would cause a wipe of the memory.

I am disappointed, and not sure I trust to keep using the app in the future for fear of the same thing happening again.

I hope there is a fix for this, and that the team finds one soon.

Thank you for updating and bug squishing!

This app is a must have for anyone writing a book 📖 or writing anything to be read.

I as many love to have what i wrote, read aloud back to me and have options for the program to point out grammar and spaces or not.

It is like an assistant there with you.

I wrote my first book with use of this app

I was worried they would not keep updated and improve and get those 🐜 bugs.

But As of this review they have made to updates and look to stay on it.

When i down load apps, I always check when the last update was. This demonstrates if they care about there app. More then 6 mo to a year
i do not download as this reflects on support and you may be left hanging.

Look at FB and other great apps they are always in maintenance mode!

I am now on my second 📚 book.
I hope they keep up this attention.

I will post here.

Thanks Voice Dream Writer 🙌🙏🏼🏆

Voiceover user.

I just downloaded the app, and I was hoping to find some settings, to customize the app.
I am a voice over user who is blind. I downloaded the app hoping to use it to be able to compose documents, and be able to edit them on the go. I don’t see in the app this far how I can even start with a blank document and input using voice dictation any text
Please consider making adjustments to this app so they a Voice over user, can create documents or articles from scratch and, be able to edit on the go. Please.

Waste of money

To complicated to use.

why can not see typed chinese ?

Why can't I see the typed Chinese characters in Text Area?
at outline can see chinese characters, but at text area ,when i typing or edit ,i can not see chinese characters.

Lack file folder structure

app is lacking off a normal file folder structure. Thus it is fine if only deal with a few files. However, when have many files, the app is very difficult to locate the right one. Because files were in the same folder.

Invaluable!

As a Ph.D. student, professor, and author, I have found the Voice Dream Writer app to be an incredible, user-friendly resource. The built-in Thesaurus is, by far, one of the best of its kind. Since the first iPad release, I’ve been using Voice Dream’s reading app, some ten years now. This equates to roughly 950+ PDF eBooks (and a few ePub) read (while listening).

This study and reading method has provided me close to 100% recall of each book I’ve imported into Voice Dream. All through grammar school and high school, I struggled with reading and composition. If I only had the Voice Dream Reader and Writer during these years, my grades would have been far different, and I may not have been “grounded” quite as much.

As a suggestion, if this app also had some basic word processing features, it would replace Microsoft Word for 90% of my writing projects.

Superb app for legal blindness

This is a very valuable app for those of us with legal blindness. It allows us to catch and correct words that come out wrong when typing and using the predictive feature in Safari for iPad or iPhone. One example, when I was posting about a hike I did are use the predictive feature in Safari and accidentally chose elevator instead of elevation.Of course that didn’t sound right in my post. So now when I use Dream Writer as my word processor it reads everything back to me as I type. I can also dictate to the app and then let the app proofread back to me. This has change my ability to communicate properly.

This app, dream writer, goes hand-in-hand with Voice dream reader and Voice dream scanner to provideall the tools a person with legal blindness needs to navigate the world of print.

Disappointing

I have to say I’m very disappointed with this app, I absolutely love the reader but I find this app very clunky and most of the time it doesn’t play back when you want it to.

It won’t let you import word docx or pages doc which is strange seeing as it is a iPad app. I would much rather edit right in the app but you can only use plain text.

I’ve tried working in split screen mode on the iPad with pages open on one side and it playing on the other so I can edit and listen but than all the font runs right down the middle like it’s been squeezed.

The play button fails to work more times than not so you have to close the app and reopen constantly.

There needs to be more than a plain text mode, I so want to love this app but I can’t.
This app would be perfect if you could import your word docx and play it and edit.

I will give this app a 5/5 review if it was able to do that. 2/5 is generous until then.

Lisa Voice?

I purchased the Lisa Voice in the reader app, but I don’t see that I can access it in the writer app. Fix this and I’ll upgrade my rating!

Use outline feature to organize writing!

Write is an excellent app that I use every day for long Markdown documents. It provides a way to see an outline of the headings, which allows you to navigate the document by tapping on a heading, and to *re-organize the entire document by dragging-and-dropping the headings*. Moving a level 1 heading moves all of its sub-headings as well, so this feature is quite useful.

First impressions, this app is awesome!

i’ve been using Voice Dream Writer for approximately twenty four hours now. It’s been awesome. I am gaining more confidence while typing. The app further underlines how much of a scam braille note takers like the BrailleNote touch + are. This appp has everything from smart navigation, keyboard shortcuts, and even a word finder. The word finder in particular is, i think, astounding. i haven’t found anything so usefull in any other app i tried. . Therre are some features i wish they had though. For example, i wish there was an option for the program to read the letters i type instead of the word. Also the formatting options are proving difficult. The heading option took me about nine tries to master. Other than that i think this app is fantastic value for money.
