About

The sky tells you when to sit. For thousands of years, people have meditated at the same quiet turning points: the stillness before sunrise, the moment day turns to night, the eleventh day of the moon. Veda96 works out those windows for wherever you are, every day, and keeps a gentle timer ready for when they arrive. You don't need to know anything about Vedic tradition to begin. WHEN TO SIT • Brahma Muhurta — the 48 minutes that begin about 96 minutes before sunrise, the classic time to meditate • The three Sandhyas — dawn, noon and dusk, the day's turning points • Ekadashi — twice a month, by the Smarta or Vaishnava rule (your choice), with the parana window for breaking the fast • Purnima and Amavasya — the full moon and the new moon • Pradosh — the dusk window on the thirteenth lunar day • Festivals — Makar Sankranti, Maha Shivaratri, Buddha Purnima, Guru Purnima, Sharad Purnima, the start of Sharad Navaratri, and Diwali, each with its own time to sit Windows follow traditional panchang rules for your location. The calendar shows each day's moon phase and lunar month, including the adhika (extra) month when one comes round. A GENTLE TIMER • Temple bell, Tibetan bowl, or silent with haptics only • Interval bells, and an optional "Feel the breath" guide you feel as gentle haptics • A countdown on the Lock Screen with Live Activity • Bells ring on time, even with the screen locked • Save your sits to Apple Health as mindful minutes, if you like • Sat on after the end bell? Add the extra time to your sit, or leave it out WAKE IN BRAHMA MUHURTA Set the wake alarm a chosen number of minutes before sunrise, and it moves with the sun every day. Ring every day, only on special days, or on the weekdays you pick. On iOS 26 it's a full alarm with a Meditate button that opens the timer; on earlier versions of iOS it's a time-sensitive notification with a bell. Pick from eight wake sounds, including the ones from Veda96 1.x, or vibration only. FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS Every window has a short guide in plain words: what it is, what to try, and what's best avoided. On Ekadashi, Veda96 walks you through the fast step by step — a light dinner the night before, a day given to practice, then breaking the fast in the parana window — with a clear note for anyone who shouldn't fast fully. REMINDERS Turn on reminders for the windows you care about: Brahma Muhurta, each Sandhya with its own lead time, Ekadashi (the evening before, the morning of, and parana), moon days, and festivals. Every reminder has a Start timer button. YOUR JOURNEY Your streak is drawn as a mala of 21 beads. Five minutes of sitting in a day keeps it going. Your recent sits and monthly totals are there too. Used Veda96 before and signed in? Your past wake-ups in Brahma Muhurta are already in your history. WIDGETS See the current or next window with a live countdown on your Home Screen, on your Lock Screen and in StandBy, with your mala streak, which nudges you in the evening if you haven't sat yet. On iOS 18 and later, start a sit straight from Control Center. APPLE WATCH See the next window at a glance, start a sit from your wrist, and feel the bells and your breath as gentle taps. Turn on "Tap my wrist too" for a Brahma Muhurta tap even when your phone is in another room. Works on watchOS 8 and later, including Apple Watch Series 3. FREE No ads, no subscription, nothing locked away. If Veda96 helps your practice, you can leave an optional tip. It unlocks nothing. PRIVACY Start as a guest, with no sign-up. All the calculations happen on your iPhone and Apple Watch. Your location, settings and sits are kept in your Veda96 account as a backup, and you can sign in with Apple or Google to carry them to another device. We collect crash reports to fix bugs. No tracking, and you can delete your account in Settings. Available in English, Español, हिन्दी, 日本語, Português, ไทย, 简体中文 and 繁體中文. You can change the app's language in Settings.
