Nearly half of all Venous thromboembolism (VTE) after ventral hernia repair occur after discharge from the hospital. This risk assessment tool uses 8 independent risk factors to predict the risk of VTE after discharge, and thus identify patients that would benefit from extended post-discharge thromboprophylaxis.
