Not Enough

This app is just ok. There are very few sounds and they are controlled by separate volume sliders that never stay where I want them and don't go loud enough. The paid version has a total of 18 sounds, six in each category. You can only mix sounds between different categories, of which there are only three. The variations in sounds consist mostly of different volumes, except for seagulls or thunder on some of them. Not horrible, but it does need further development.

Hello. The paid version unlocks many more sound variations (tap the gear icon to open the settings for each sound). If you're having troubles with the app volume sliders, please feel to reach out: jeff (at) jeffperrinmusic.com Thanks!

Spacial Audio!

Happy to find a meditation app that supports Dolby Atmos/Spacial Audio. Please expand on the selections to include more than just sleep. I suggest alpha, beta, theta and gamma brainwaves along with delta for sleep. Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback - Much appreciated!

Poor audio

Oh dear I was really hoping for more here, and hoping to avoid Portal’s stupid subscription fees. I’m only writing this review because I had to pay your full price before I could evaluate the quality of the audio so I’d like others to not have to do so.

I was looking for a fully spatialized immersive environmental audio like rainfall etc for relaxation. In order to evaluate the product I had to pay the (modest) full purchase price. I tried the rainfall audio. The volume level was very low and the soundstage on my airpod pros was extremely narrow as was the frequency response band, even with Dolby Atmos on.

But I knew this was a bust the moment I enabled spatialized audio - which instantly created a highly noticeable comb filter effect (think flanger) which made the result unlistenable. This is clearly an amateur effort and the developer needs to put in the extra work to comprehend the algorithms and compensate accordingly.

I love supporting independent app developers especially those with reasonable purchase models (I hate subscriptions unless there’s a good reason to support constant development of new content). But this was a wasted $8 for me unfortunately. Your mileage may vary and your ears may be more forgiving.

I would encourage the developer to at least unlock one full environment for free so folks can try before they buy.

Hello. There is indeed a free trial for Dolby Atmos / spatial audio in each sound category (Music, Waves, and Fan). Perhaps you overlooked this? Regarding low volume, please be sure to investigate the Mixer page in the app to set individual sound volumes to your liking. As for the spatial audio sound quality itself, I recommend updating to iOS 15.1 or later, as Apple continues to improve the quality of Dolby Atmos rendering on AirPods (my app is the only one I know of in this category which uses actual Dolby Atmos audio tracks for spatial audio). Nevertheless, I agree there is always room for improvement and definitely plan on improving the sound quality for all environments in coming releases. Feel free to send additional feedback or questions to jeff (at) jeffperrinmusic.com Thanks!

Blah….

I bought the premium version of this app, excited to use it with my AirPod pros, the sound do not use spatial audio, waste of money. Hear real spatial audio then this and you will know the difference.

Response from developer

Hello. Please keep in mind this is a relaxation app and the spatial audio effect is designed to be more subtle compared to that of say, a blockbuster movie. Music and ambience in the app is indeed powered by Dolby Atmos spatial audio tracks. You can even hear head-tracking in some of the music tracks (most audible with the guitar melodies) If you believe the tracks are not playing properly, however, please feel free to email me for support at jeff (at) jeffperrinmusic (dot) com. Happy to help resolve issues and I always welcome constructive feedback and suggestions for future updates. Thanks! -Jeff

Great

I love this app and everything you’ve done I do have a question. Are you thinking about doing true Dolby atmos in the future with options for 7.2 channels

Response from developer

Thanks! Yes, the tvOS version of this app was originally designed for full 7.1.4 Atmos support. Unfortunately, tvOS 14 broke the ability for us to mix multiple Atmos sounds together (it was working in tvOS 13) so I had to downmix the sounds to Dolby Digital 5.1. So right now I'm waiting on Apple for a fix. But I plan on bringing back Atmos again one way or another! Thanks again for the comment! -Jeff
