About

VerseLamp is a quiet little app with one purpose: help ordinary people memorize the Bible by reading aloud, listening, and reciting from memory. The name comes from Psalm 119:105 — "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." A lamp is small. It does not light the whole road. It lights the next step. That is what memorized Scripture does: it gives you the next step in a hard conversation, the next breath in a long night, the next thought when fear empties the rest of your head. WHAT'S INSIDE • Ten public-domain English translations — KJV, ASV, WEB, BBE, YLT, DRA, DBY, WBT, AKJV, and the 1599 Geneva Bible. • Curated curricula — Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced verse sets; the Sermon on the Mount (highlights and complete); the Beatitudes; the Lord's Prayer; selections from the Psalms (all 150 chapters, KJV) and Proverbs; classic public-domain hymns; or build your own custom unit. • Spoken recitation. Tap the microphone, say the verse, and VerseLamp gently scores how close you came. The microphone uses Apple's Speech Recognition — audio is processed by Apple, not by us. • A typed fallback if you'd rather practice quietly. • Listen back. Tap any verse to hear it read aloud. NO ACCOUNTS. NO TRACKING. VerseLamp does not require an account. We do not run advertising, analytics, or third-party trackers. Your study progress lives on your device — clear it any time from iOS Settings. The app does not operate a backend server; nothing leaves your phone except the audio your device hands to Apple's speech recognizer when you press record. ABOUT THE TEXTS VerseLamp ships with public-domain English Bible translations only, and with hymn lyrics drawn from public-domain editions. For an authoritative Bible, please consult a printed copy or qualified clergy; VerseLamp is for personal devotional practice, not academic or liturgical authority. WHO MADE IT VerseLamp is a small project by a couple of believers who wanted to give a beautiful, free tool back to the faithful. The Scripture itself is the gift. We just built the lamp.
