I was so excited to listen to some of my favorite songs that had curse words in them and finally being able to filter them out…. But like always it’s behind a paywall.

This thing doesn’t silence like a DJ would, it literally just skips over that word or section if it’s a set of phrases. I tried it with all my favorite expletive-filled songs and it’s junk. If you want to throw off everyone’s rhythm or head bobbing sure, but it won’t catch innuendos or slang like “head” — truly a skip. Even the SpongeBob censored dolphins would be better than this.

Great Idea, But $99 a Year for One Key Feature Is Hard to Justify
I really like the idea behind Verso and appreciate the effort to provide a cleaner, family-friendly music experience. However, I was honestly disappointed when I saw that using the app’s more specific filtering features can cost $99 per year.
For someone who primarily wants Verso because they want to block certain inappropriate language while listening to music, $99 a year feels extremely expensive. That is a significant recurring cost for what seems like a relatively specific feature. I understand that AI-powered music filtering and maintaining an app costs money, but there should be a more affordable option for customers who don’t need every premium feature.
My concern is that someone can download the app because they like the concept of family-safe music, only to discover that getting the level of filtering they actually want requires a $99/year subscription. I would strongly encourage anyone considering the app to look carefully at what is included in the free version versus what requires a subscription before committing.
I think Verso could be much more appealing if there were multiple pricing tiers, a reasonably priced option specifically for content filtering, or even a one-time purchase for certain features. Something like $2–$5 per month would feel much more reasonable for someone who simply wants better control over explicit language.
I’m not saying this to attack the developers. I genuinely think Verso has a good concept and could be a really useful app for families, parents, and people who simply prefer cleaner music. But the pricing currently makes it difficult for me to recommend.
Hopefully the developers will reconsider the pricing instead of making customers feel like they’re being charged heavily just to access a basic feature they specifically downloaded the app for. I’d love to see Verso succeed, but a more reasonable and transparent pricing model would go a long way toward earning the trust of current, previous, and future customers.
