When you scan or search for a book, the app looks up its details from public book catalogs (Open Library and Google Books); nothing else about your library ever leaves your device. Older and secondhand books often have no barcode that scans. Add them by title with no ISBN at all, and Verso stores them like any other book. Verso Pro is an optional one-time unlock, not a subscription. The free app is complete on its own and stays that way.
