About

EVERY TOOL A PHOTOGRAPHER NEEDS. ONE APP. An almanac, a shoot planner, a rack of field calculators, a live light meter, an AR sky scout, a share studio, live condition alerts and a scouting notebook. Buy them separately and it is a shelf full of apps. Viewpoint is all of them, in your pocket and on the big screen, and most of it works with no signal. Picture the sun dropping behind a ridge, a full moon over the bay, or the Milky Way above a lone tree. Viewpoint tells you exactly where to stand and when to be there, then stays with you from the first idea to a finished photo. Built for photographers who chase the light. FIND WHERE TO STAND • Find Your Viewpoint: name your subject, like a tree, a peak or a lighthouse, and the AI finds the real places you could stand so the sun, moon or Milky Way lines up right behind it, the exact time it happens, and the lens to bring. Computed and verified on your device, never invented. • Scout from home with a street-level view of any location before you travel. • On location, raise your phone and watch the sun, moon, Milky Way and star-trail rotation appear live over the camera in 3D AR. METER THE LIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU (NEW) • A real-time light meter, always in your pocket. Point your phone at the scene and read the exposure straight off the camera, the EV plus the aperture, shutter and ISO, before you unpack the rig. • Tap the shadows and the highlights to spot-meter the tones that matter, see the whole scene on a Zone System ruler, and place a tone exactly where you want it. • Reciprocity correction for film, a live histogram and a colour-temperature readout, all on your device. PLAN THE LIGHT AND THE SKY • A complete sun and moon almanac: golden hour, blue hour, every twilight, moonrise and moonset, and the nights the Milky Way's core rides high in a dark sky. • A sky-events calendar: meteor showers, eclipses, supermoons, equinoxes and planetary events, each flagged for visibility from where you are. • Put a watch on any spot and get a heads-up the moment your conditions arrive: golden light, fog, clear dark skies and more. Quiet by default. You decide what is worth a notification. • Nearly every field calculator you reach for: depth of field, hyperfocal, ND long exposure, the exposure triangle, timelapse, star exposure (500 and NPF), star trails, panorama overlap and focal-length match. Each one comes with a plain-language explainer and a diagram. CAPTURE AND ORGANISE • One tap stamps every spot with its GPS, compass bearing, sun position and your photo's EXIF, automatically. • Build a library of locations and maps, with notes per shot and multiple compositions per place. Everything works fully offline, stays private by default, and syncs across your devices. CREATE, READY FOR THE FEED • Turn your results into share-ready formats: EXIF spec cards, before-and-after reels, sliced panoramas for carousels and celestial plan overlays. Sized for social. VIEWPOINT ON THE WEB • web.getviewpoint.app brings your library, maps, plans and creator tools to the big screen. Same account, any browser. WIDGETS FOR HOME AND LOCK SCREEN • Your current light phase and countdown, tonight's moon and Milky Way window, live scores for the spots you watch, and your next shoot ready to tap. New tools ship almost every week. Honest by design: no ads, no tracking, your data stays yours. Stop leaving the best light to luck. Plan the shot you can already see in your head, then go take it. What's New in Viewpoint

1.9.1

Tapping an aurora alert now opens the aurora — not a blank map. • A panel for the moment the push arrives. It leads with where you stand right now — likely overhead, not tonight, or a last-known reading that says how old it is — then tonight's Kp and how long the sky is genuinely dark at that spot, in that spot's own time zone. • The next 72 hours, drawn against your spot. The forecast chart has a line on it, and that line is the Kp this particular place needs. Bars above it can reach you. A single global "aurora likely" band tells a photographer in Tromsø and one in Manchester the same thing; this doesn't. • Mute tonight without muting tomorrow. If you have seen enough, quiet the spot until the dark ends — not into the following night. Also fixed: • Tapping an alert could freeze the app. Opening a notification for somewhere far from where you last left the map could lock the app on the map screen, sometimes until it closed itself. This is the reason for the release. • Aurora alerts opened a bare map with an empty likelihood track. An aurora alert was never a probability — it is whether the oval reaches you, whether it is dark, and what the sky is doing right now — so the row was showing a measure that did not exist. It now says what it actually knows, and opens the panel. Aurora alerts are part of the Online plan. New tools ship almost every week.
