Great app, can see it being very useful. When it boots up, and the dialogue box says “updating location”, is that using internet or GPS?

Thanks for the feedback. When the app says ‘getting location’ it is using GPS only and does not require internet access. The only times the app needs internet access is the very first time it downloads its data file (the first time you use it) and also if you select the ‘view on map’ option that is usually in the bottom right of the screen. This is because that particular option needs Apple/Google maps to work. The map icon won’t appear if an internet connection isn’t available. Hope that helps. Kind regards. The ViewScanner team

Easy to use

You do have to take a photo and then align the horizon, but that is easy to do. I like the fact that you get told about villages and other things as well as hills.

Requires downloads to operate which never complete. Con! Stay away.

Hi. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having problems. You are correct that the app needs a one time download of data so that it can then operate without need for an internet connection. We haven’t had any other reports of this failing and I did just try a new install of the app on one of our test phones where the download completed successfully. If you continue to have problems please go to viewscanner.com/support and use the contact form. We will try and help fix the issue or, if things are not working for you, please request a refund of your app purchase from Apple - you should be able to do that from the media and purchases section in settings.
