A Splendid Review!

For quite a bit of the Viking chess games this has to be the most polished one.

Love it

Really fun to play

Challenging Game

First game victory - great concept - enjoyed the game more than standard Persian chess

Computer Player needs some work on 3rd difficulty

I found a feedback loop where the king just kept jumping from one side of the board to the other because it had me in a position where if I didn’t defend it could win. It wouldn’t make another move, just aggressively tried to push the corner even if it lead to no new moves. Seems like an easy fix, just add a code limiter to seek new moves if stalemate occurs. I can tell the developers actually care and do update the game because some of the reviews have been corrected already. Other than this, it seems great. Thanks for the hard work

Fun game

I like this game and love playing it online, though I would like for there to be an option for the 9x9 board too instead of just the 11x11 and 7x7 boards.

Fun

Viking fun

Fun

Easy to play, bots are kinda stoopid, would be nice to have alternative game board designs

Dumb board movement design!

The center of the board is the axis of rotation! Dumb, real dump. Are you 12 years old or something?! So no matter what you do, the center of the board is ALWAYS in the middle. Deleted.

Paid to removed ads, ads still there

I paid to remove ads, the ads didn't go away. I selected restore purchase, nothing happened. I requested a refund. Refund denied. Really great system, super awesome. Really really great. 10/10

Some of the rules are not right

The king can not attack, but in the game he can. If a normal piece is in between the wall and a piece, it is eliminated, but not in the game. But the game is still fun.

Fun

Slot of fun and better than solitaire

Outstanding!!!

Easy rules, simple movements but the strategy possibilities are limitless!! And the game play is fun and intricate, overall a great fun game of strategy that will make you think and have fun at the same time. Download it, you’ll have fun and with a glass of mead you’ll be ready for Ragnarok in no time !!

Annoying Override

I was enjoying this app until it would kick me out of my game against the computer and force me to play against a human opponent. Why???? I clearly have “CPU” marked as my opponent. Please fix this!! It is absolutely infuriating. It has happened as soon as right after my first move as well as at any point in the game with no way to exit or decline this forced match.
The only other thing that could be improved is that sometimes, even in intermediate mode, it is way too easy to win with the computer missing extremely obvious moves that even a beginner would catch. Fix these issues and I’ll change this review to 5 stars.

Good

Needs no time limits

Great game

I wish there was a way to remove the time limit and prevent it from automatically making a move for you if the time runs out

Rules are incomplete which leads to frustration

Rules are incomplete and the “examples” Of the few that are “shown” are blank on iOS. For example: the King cannot initiate capture of opposing pieces as he is considered unarmed. The throne cannot be reentered but can be used as a space to capture against even for the King. How does the king escape and win? It doesn’t tell us?! Please list all rules with picture examples.

Rules

Could you please review the rules and make them clear within the app. The standard rules as used with the very popular Viking game edition allow you to take pieces by sandwiching the apposition piece against the corner kings square. This version only allows this when it’s a double take which is confusing. Also defending pieces can move through the kings square where as opposition pieces cannot. Other than that it’s a good app

Could be fun

This game could be fun if the game controls weren’t so poor. Zoom in and out steps bad and game selects wrong pawns which really screws up game play

Very well made

This app allows you to play every version of Hnefatafl that I have ever seen along with some I haven’t. The animations and graphics are better than I could have asked for. Learn to play this game and you will enjoy it.

Incorrect rule application

As the king, I was counted as captured when on the edge of the board and directly adjacent to a corner refuge square when black had only two pieces adjacent to me. A pawn would have been captured, but the king could freely move into the corner and win.
