About
VinRescue is a vehicle rescue reference for fire department members. It answers the first question at a vehicle crash or fire: what is this vehicle, and where are the hazards?
FIND THE VEHICLE
- Scan the VIN barcode or printed VIN from the door jamb, windshield tag, or insurance or registration card.
- Damaged tag? Type a partial VIN, using * for characters you can't read.
- Photo ID: snap the vehicle and VinRescue suggests the make, model and years.
- Pick the year, make and model from a list.
SEE THE RESCUE SHEET
- High-voltage battery, cable and fuel hazards for electric, hybrid, plug-in, hydrogen, CNG and propane vehicles.
- Airbag locations and no-cut zones.
- Shutdown and disconnect steps.
- One tap opens the vehicle maker's own emergency response guide, rescue card and owner's manual on the maker's website.
Vehicle details come from the NHTSA VIN decoder. Rescue notes are short summaries that name the maker document they came from.
MEMBERS ONLY
VinRescue is for members of participating fire departments and requires a department PIN.
VinRescue is a quick reference, not a replacement for your training, your department's SOPs or the maker's emergency response guide. Always confirm the vehicle on scene. VinRescue is not affiliated with any vehicle maker or government agency.
