Interesting Word Puzzle

Vitriol is a very interesting word puzzle, it tells an intriguing if somewhat confusing story and has gameplay that is challenging enough without being too difficult. It is a little expensive for what it is which is why it loses a star. If you are into word puzzles then this one is worth a go.

Nice idea but underdeveloped and far too expensive

Paid the better part of a fiver for this and it lasted about an hour or so. The idea is good and the writing is cleverish, but I feel like it was cleverer to make than to play. Structure of puzzles didn’t really diversify as the game went on and it increasingly felt like the narrative was serving the puzzles and not the other way around. Wouldn’t have begrudged a couple of quid, but it’s too expensive for what it is.

Interesting but crazy difficulty spikes

The game starts off pretty intriguing, but a bit on the easy side. By chapter 3 though, the difficulty goes through the roof, and there’s no hint system. The lack of a hint system in a story based puzzle game is odd. If you’re smarter than me, maybe it’s 5 stars!

Note: My previous review complained about progress being lost, apparently that was a bug and it was fixed.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! We found a bug in the save game code and fixed it immediately. The new version saves the exact puzzle you left at. Really sorry for the inconvenience. Bugs, sadly, happen.
