Awesome but a couple bugs

This app has been freaking awesome for my vocab practice. It does have some mess ups though but updates happen basically every 2 weeks

Recommend this

App is sick I recommend

Great app for building vocabulary!

I really enjoy using this application! It has been incredibly helpful for extending my vocabulary. The UI is very convenient, and the built-in tools and features have genuinely improved my learning experience.

Robust, pre-built flash cards

There are cheaper ways to make this happen but for not a lot of money each month this is a very flexible, pre-built solution that works great and is very robust.

Nothings perfect, but this definitely tries

Very impressed so far, this is what AI was meant to be used for. Extremely customizable and responsive to your learning style. I’ve gone through a lot of methods and a lot of bs to try and learn my target language. This is the very first app that actually makes me believe I’ll learn the vocabulary.

I second the idea of a dark mode!

I really do love this app.

I’ve been studying Spanish off and on for years and have recently began studying French and am dabbling with German. Guys, I’ve followed the polyglots on YouTube, Moses McCormick, Steve Kauffman, Arguelles, Richard Simcott, Lucas and others and have spent so much money on so many different resources. THIS app is a STEAL. It has the spaced repetition and high frequency vocabulary with audio..,and “pawlyglot”…this is just too good of a deal.

Very good for both review and learning

Very wide vocabulary

Best flash card app ever

I am learning german and so far i have used the app consistently for over a year . The impact this little habbit has had on my comprehension is unbelievable . I want to thank the creators

1 year of using this app

I’ve been using this app for a year and I love it. Here’s a really long review with suggestions of what I want to see in the future at the end.

I’ve used Vocabuo for a year. This app is incredibly efficient and it’s 100% worth a subscription. The creator is very responsive and all of the features make it impossible not to improve in the languages you use it for.

For example, I can drive to and from work while talking to one of the AI conversation bots, and it will generate a list of key vocabulary and grammar cards which I can choose from to add to my (VERY customizable) spaced repetition. Then, when I get home I can start reading within the app and saving more words to my vocabulary list, instantly calling definitions by clicking on them.

Throughout the day, I often think of words in each language and can immediately search them in the app and add them to my vocabulary repetitions as well.

About the spaced repetition: you can choose from a variety of different flash card settings that work for you. I love to make my flash cards progressively more abstract (such as reading the textbook definition of the word in each target language) the further I get into knowing a specific word. The app makes it simple to set that up in the flash card settings.

For the creator to add in the future:

- Some variation of themes or dark mode compatibility. I have my devices in dark mode/night shift because I get migraines, so I would appreciate a setting to make the app environment darker if needed.

- Some things I want to see in the future are language-specific settings. Right now you have to universally set your minute goal, your repetition types, max words, etc. If you want to have a different setting when you switch languages, you have to go manually change it. Not the end of the world, but I’d like that to be different.

- Additionally, I would love to see more languages. I know Brazilian Portuguese is coming soon which I’m ecstatic about. I’m greedy, so experimenting with Russian would be super cool, even if it’s a Beta version for a while. Then, one day I would love to see about Levantine Arabic, but I’m sure that will be next to impossible to pull off.

Anyway, this is a 10/10 app. I am excited for the future.

Great review but uses AI slop 😔

Spaced repetition is a great learning strategy, especially for long-term memory according to sources. However I can‘t get behind the use of AI slop images and the option to pay extra from AI bots. Should be the developers responsibility to either commission accurate information/pictures or purchase information available from humans imo.

Response from developer

Hi, thank tou for the feedback. Right now the mascot illustrations are hand-drawn by an artist. Hand drawing images for all sentences would unfortunately not be economically viable - it would cost 1,000,000+ USD since there’s hundreds of thousands of sentences. If it’s distracting, you can turn the images off in the settings. For more feedback, please contact me at petr@vocabuo.com

Mega app

Super zufrieden mit dieser app

:)

Bis jetzt schaut es alles mega aus!

Most of basic features locked with paywall

Don’t recommend it with current features and price politics

Beste App

Das ist eine der besten Vokabel-Lern-Apps die ich je auf dem Handy hatte. Wahnsinnig toll und vieles geht auch ohne das Abo - worüber ich sehr froh bin da ich einfach das Geld nicht habe. Danke. Hoffe es bleibt so.

Eins wäre aber richtig cool, wenn man die Listen / Sammlungen nach Priorität sortieren könnte - welche Wörter als erstes abgefragt werden. Falls es so ist - finde ich es leider nicht.

Simple but Thoughtful

I really like this App. Sentences are short and simple but challenging. Spent a lot of time looking for a tool to help me with my language journey. This is what I wanted.

Great app

I am really enjoying Vocabuo. I’ve tried many of the popular apps but I feel like this has been making things click a lot faster for me. Definitely worth the subscription.

Used for a few months now

It didn’t help teach me Spanish, but looked good at first. It’s just A.I. Text displayed on cards without any actual teaching. Sadly it also charged me £50 for the year which was done through a scammy free-trial. Be careful when you download the app and don’t press yes to the “continue for free” button, as it charges £50 3 days later.
It’s a shame. Clearly made to trick people into taking their money but without providing much of a service. It doesn’t have any useful A.I. Features either. It’s literally £50 to display Spanish phrases on some cards 🤦🏼‍♂️

Super helpful vocabulary app!

I have downloaded and deleted so many language learning apps because they over promise and under deliver. This one says it will teach you vocabulary - and it does! I like that I can choose how I want to practice (e.g., type, speak, recall and by definition, in a sentence, etc.). It is the right amount of customization, while keeping focus on learning new words.

Simply Great!

Helping me a lot to learn new words. I’ve been looking for an app like this for a while now. Became a life-time member because the app is so useful. One feature request - in the card format “Translate German word in sentence”, it would be great to have a toggle/switch to also display the article of the word. Similar to “Translate German word” format with the word+article on top. When learning language like German, it’s important to learn with their article. I like translating whole sentences, would be great to have the option to show the word on top as well.

Refreshes

I’m using your app to learn vocabulary and I’m really enjoying it. However, I’m experiencing a frustrating issue: every time I leave the app and come back, it completely restarts/refreshes. This causes me to lose my current daily progress and forces me to start the session over. Could you please make it so the app saves the current state of the lesson so I can pick up exactly where I left off?

Hi, can you contact me at petr@vocabuo.com with more details? The swipes are saved immediately after swiping (see loading on the top right) so I suspect it might be some other issue.
