Doesn’t work for French

Great idea but unfortunately it didn’t work at all in French. Despite selecting “French” in Settings, the transcript was very far from what I said with both a mix of hallucinations and misunderstandings. I provided the same recordings to GPT and other platforms and they did much better! Lastly, there were also a few UI/UX bugs like buttons sometimes requiring multiple taps to actually do something.

New function requirements

Wish these functions could be added: - customizing index page display such as being able to choose which notes (with certain tags or certain period of times) are displayed at front page. - Sorting function for notes. For me personally, I want to be able to review todos and ideas at the right top with one glance, so it can remind me better; I don't need to see meeting notes and lecture notes in the front page, because these types of notes are more for "backups". - Quick search suggestions at search bar, such as past weeks' notes, recent search history, frequent reviewed tags, etc. that just need to click once to search.

Regulatory Compliance

This review was initially left on July 3, 2026, by July 5 2026, I already emailed the team directly and did not received any response yet:

I tried this app for a single day, and it auto-renewed for $137.75 CAD
without ANY advance notification from the app or Apple. Other compliant apps (like Fantuan) always warn users before a trial ends. I canceled immediately and haven't used it since. As a resident of BC, Canada, this sneaky billing directly violates the BC Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA). Frontline support refused my refund. Developer team, review Order ID: MQ9BQFBMYW and
process my refund immediately

We're sorry to hear that. Can you please email us at team@voicenotes.com with the details of the issue so our dev team can look into this?

Declined AutoRenew this Month; App Replaced

Replaced with SpeakWise, which optionally (no extra $) auto sends voice & transcribed notes, plus generated action lists, to Notion (free-tier account). No relation beyond thrilled customer. When I take the time to make a note, I expect to refer to it later. Over a full year, this app proved consistently unreliable. Found SpeakWise via Qwant search engine; Google never mentioned it. Saving $$, enjoying voice input via AirPods Pro 3; & “it just works!” unlike VoiceNotes.

Worst customer service

This company is horrible. They rarely respond to customer complaints and when they do is ignorant nonsense. Try DictaWiz or Ideashell instead. Better apps and better companies.

to bad

It is impossible to export all the voice notes, you need to dot one by one...

Deceptive subscriptions

After an unhelpful three day subscription and without any further notification (knowing very well people forget and making the most of it) Today, I’m lumped with a $125 charge for an app that has a poor transcription quality particularly with multiple voices in a meeting. There is no quality AI that can discern between voices and therefore present you a usable voice to text result..
Uploading from a existing Apple voice memo recording is tedious and ineffective.
Fingers crossed for an apple refund. I’m deleting the app.
If Apple chooses not to refund me, you should be refunding me.

Response from developer

We wanted to clarify that subscriptions and trial notifications are handled directly by Apple through the App Store. We don’t have control over App Store billing or refund decisions, so if the subscription was purchased there, the refund request needs to be handled by Apple. That said, Voicenotes offers a generous free plan so you can explore it well before committing to a paid subscription. On transcription quality, we use the world's best models and don't cut corners. However, results can vary depending on audio quality, background noise, and how clearly speakers are recorded - not app-level limitation, it's model-level limitations. If you’d like us to look into a specific transcription issue, please contact us at team@voicenotes.com.

Lost too many meeting notes

I have recorded a meeting so many times and the app never captured a word presumably because of glitch. It’s not worth the risk. Don’t use it.

Unreliable

I found voice notes recording and transcribing really helpful - when it works.

I have had previous issues with the liability of this app which seemed to have been addressed.

I now note there was an update which has taken me almost back to square one; the last three voice notes transcriptions/recordings did not save.

The first one I thought was down to my error turns out it wasn't! Meetings two and three on Thursday and Friday went through the transcript process, but didn't produce a transcript and more than that. The recording disappeared!

Once again this app proves itself to be too unreliable not to have a backup and for me that backup is Otter.ai which is infinitely more reliable.

And not having any backup to any recording, other than using another Notes app is ridiculous! Once again, contactable tech support - none existent.

Unreliable, doesn’t save recordings

Wrong Wrong Wrong

Called my wife a HUSBAND instead of MY WIFE OR PARTNER OR FRIEND….

This has gender all wrong

Daily usage limit not enough for what I need.

The daily usage limits for iOS does not allow for eight one hour sessions per day.

Stop working few days after paying my yearly subscription.

Doesn’t summarize anything… doesn’t record anything. No support… not impressed.

Response from developer

Thanks for sharing this, that definitely shouldn’t be happening. If recording and summaries aren’t working on the latest version, please reach out to team@voicenotes.com with a few details about your device and what you’re seeing and we’ll help get this sorted quickly.

Fundamental Reliability Problems

At the most fundamental level, a voice notes app needs to record and trust, once lost, is hard to gain back.

In just two weeks of testing Voicenotes, I've lost approximately three hours of very important recordings.

First incident (March 11, iPhone): I was recording a note that reached 54 minutes when I paused it. I checked back twice over the next 25 minutes and the paused recording was still there both times. When I went to resume it the third time (roughly 30mins after pausing), it had vanished completely. The company acknowledged this as an "edge case."

Second incident (March 25, Mac laptop): I recorded a critical 2-hour meeting on my Mac laptop. The laptop remained on and active throughout. When the meeting ended, I pressed stop and clicked the arrow key in the Mac app (that takes you the dashboard/site). The recording disappeared and I couldn't find it anywhere.

Apple Watch reliability issues: Recording on the Apple Watch never worked consistently. Recordings would stop abruptly and disappear into the ether. I didn't even report this because I gave up on that feature rather quickly.

If one user can encounter two "edge cases" in about two weeks, this app is not for me. I can't trust an app that loses important content, especially when those conversations can't be recreated. Three hours of critical recordings is too much to lose.

To potential users: If you're recording important content you can't afford to lose, I'd recommend testing thoroughly with non-critical recordings first, or considering more established alternatives.

To the developer: The core functionality needs to be rock solid before adding features. Focus on ensuring recordings are reliably saved across all platforms.

I'll be looking for other options.

Response from developer

Thanks for taking the time to share this in detail. Recording reliability has been a major focus for us and we’ve shipped several updates improving how recordings are saved and handled across devices. Losing recordings should not happen, and we understand how frustrating that is. If you’re open to trying the latest version again, reliability is significantly improved now.

Double charged

I subscribed back in Feb and have been getting 2 charges every fortnight for the last month! I have now cancelled! Last I checked monthly charge was 1 charge once every 4 weeks?

Response from developer

Thanks for sharing this, that shouldn’t be happening. If you’re seeing multiple charges, please reach out to team@voicenotes.com with a bit more detail and we’ll take a closer look and get it sorted for you.

Poor customer Service contact

I’ve been on a mission for two weeks to cancel my subscription and have found it nearly impossible. I’ve gone through the app, which says your subscription is through the website, and you must go to the website. When I go there, the buttons don’t do anything; you see a circle within the button, and then nothing. I’ve been stuck paying for a subscription I no longer want. I found three different support emails for this company, and as of this date, no one has replied. It’s obscene that I now have to go through my bank to stop payment.

Response from developer

Thanks for sharing this, that definitely shouldn’t be happening. If you subscribed via the web, you can cancel by logging into the Voicenotes web app, going to Settings → Your plan, and managing your subscription through the Stripe billing page. If those buttons aren’t working, please reach out to team@voicenotes.com and we’ll prioritise getting this resolved for you.

Best off it’s kind

Earlier review. See the last paragraph.

For months this had been my go-to app for notes, meeting, etc. Finally, though, I grew irritated at having to remove my iPad from the keyboard to read or make entries. To use an iPad one must use it in portrait mode with a finger or pencil. It is best used for those who prefer to use it with an iPhone. I kept hoping for an update but am giving up.

03/19/26 A new version of this app has been released. I opened it today to find that I can now use it with my keyboard much more efficiently in portrait mode. Now, in my view, it is the best app of its kind. I’m update my rating stars to five.

Other apps are FAR superior

I’ve used this app several times all it does is record - it just spins as if I’m supposed to get something more. I’ve used Ottr and found it FAR superior. And this was recommend by a trusted course. Very disappointed.
