Heart Rate from AirPods & Bluetooth Sensors, Start Countdown, Workout End Times & a Smarter Apple Watch • New: use your heart rate without an Apple Watch — with AirPods Pro 3 (iOS 26 or later) or a Bluetooth heart rate sensor such as a chest strap or the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds • One place to choose where your heart rate comes from — a single dropdown in Settings (None, Apple Watch, AirPods or sensor), and the card tells you which one is active • Volt checks that your AirPods or sensor really send heart rate before a heart-rate workout starts, and you can test again with one tap • New: a 3-2-1 countdown before the treadmill starts or resumes, also when you press Start on your Apple Watch — change the length or turn it off in Settings › Advanced • Workout time now only counts after you press Start, and a workout you never started no longer shows an empty summary • New: see when your workout will end, right on the workout cards on the Home screen • New: connect to your favourite treadmill automatically when Volt opens • New: a notification a few seconds before the next phase of a HIIT or custom workout, and the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island show the current phase • New: the latest workouts are now in a History page on your Apple Watch • History and Apple Health now show the heart rate of AirPods and sensor runs, with the device name • A dropped Apple Watch no longer stops a workout that doesn't need heart rate — Home says "Heart rate sensor needed" or "No heart rate sensor needed", custom workouts work this out from their segments by themselves, and a small "reconnecting" note replaces the blocking screen • Missing heart rate readings no longer pull down your averages, charts or zones, and the display no longer freezes on the last number when the watch drops • Settings explain when heart rate is recorded, and the Summary and History tell you when none was • A workout restored after closing the app by accident now keeps its heart rate, speed and incline chart, and a custom workout carries on where it was instead of starting over • The Apple Watch connects more reliably, and a short drop shows a calm "standby" instead of a red "disconnected" • Smaller fixes: starting from the Apple Watch works every time, your calories are kept for the summary and Apple Health, and the heart-rate settings no longer jump around
