About

Volume turns everything you read into one private, offline library — and reads it aloud with a natural neural voice, generated entirely on your device. IMPORT ANYTHING Bring your own EPUB, Markdown, plain-text, and RTF files, or save web articles from the share sheet as clean offline publications. Everything lands in one searchable library, whatever its source. READ COMFORTABLY A reflowable reader with themes, adjustable typography, highlights, and annotations that survive font changes. Instant resume, chapter navigation, footnotes in place — fully offline. LISTEN WITH READ-ALONG Tap play and your book is read aloud by an on-device neural voice, with the current passage highlighted as it is spoken. Narration follows chapter jumps, keeps your place, works like an audiobook from the lock screen — and is kept, so it never re-generates on the next listen. Export a narrated edition as a standard audio-synchronized EPUB you own forever. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION No account. No ads. No tracking. No telemetry. Your books and your reading never leave your device — narration is generated locally, and everything works in airplane mode. The User Guide is pre-loaded, so you can hear read-along the moment the app opens — and it doubles as a seven-chapter tour of importing, reading, and listening. Narration voices are synthesized speech (Kyutai pocket-tts, CC-BY voices); quality of pronunciation can vary on unusual words and names.

What's New in Volume

1.1.0

August 6, 2026

## 1.1.0 — 2026-08-05 ### Listening - Fixed a rare condition where narration could silently skip whole chapters. If a chapter ever fails to generate, it is now clearly reported instead of vanishing. - No more phantom "Skipped in this chapter" notices on dialogue paragraphs — stray punctuation is no longer counted as skipped content. - The voice-language question now appears only when the answer would change what is spoken — a fresh install is no longer interrupted to confirm the default voice. ### Library - Downloading an updated book from a catalog now asks before replacing the copy you already have, instead of silently keeping the old version. - The User Guide now wears the app icon as its cover.
