VorteX Rocket Engine

Fire up a full-flow methalox rocket engine in your hands, then unlock the full lab with VorteX Pro. VorteX puts an interactive 3D rocket engine on your iPhone and iPad. Spin it, zoom in on the turbopumps, then press Ignite and watch the start sequence play out: chill-down, preburners, ignition and mainstage, with a roaring exhaust plume, glowing shock diamonds and synthesised engine sound. Standard • Front and Three-quarter camera views • Ignite and shut down with a realistic start and cut-off sequence • Switch between 70% and 100% throttle and watch the plume respond • Live readings: thrust, chamber pressure, specific impulse, exhaust velocity, propellant flows, exit pressure and pump speeds • Frost on the cryogenic lines and heavy cold vapour spilling from the pipes and nozzle Pro (one-time in-app purchase) • Orbit and pinch-zoom freely around a detailed 3D engine • Continuous 40–100% throttle slider • Gimbal pad that tilts the engine up to 15°, with a one-tap Centre button • Altitude slider from sea level to near vacuum: watch the plume balloon and the readings change • Nozzle flow field on a cut plane: Mach number, temperature, pressure and velocity, live with throttle • Propellant flow: LOX, methane and preburner gas moving through every line • Solid, X-ray and cutaway views • Part labels with engineering notes on the turbopumps, preburners, injector, chamber, throat, nozzle and more • Cycle tab with an interactive full-flow staged-combustion diagram • Six camera presets and auto-orbit • Haptic rumble that follows thrust • Life-size AR: place the 3.3 m engine on your floor with Apple's AR Quick Look and walk around it
