Not great

The visuals are not accurate. The moving dot does not hit the targets on the screen accurately, even when I’m producing the sound perfectly and clearly. Please update it so the dot hits the vowels. Sometimes the R shows on target…sometimes it doesn’t. The idea behind this app is fantastic!! But this app doesn’t work as advertised.

It’s not perfect, but it’s really good,

I use VowelViz often with my students who struggle with vocalic /r/. It provides them with reliable visual feedback for their production, helping them develop independent self-monitoring , which is always a struggle. Some voices don’t register as precisely as they might (for example, it doesn’t recognize my /i/ accurately, but does catch everything else I say correctly), but there is nothing else out there that does what this app does. For the pediatric SLP, it’s the best thing going!

Too expensive

I bought this for $50 hoping it would be a big help for my kids working on vocalic /r/ as I’m a speech path. It wasn’t helpful.

Free app and still 2stars

For a free app, this program is still not a solid value. Buggy, frustrating and poor UI all equal a rough overall experience. I heard people paid $29-$49 for this? Yikes, I would have felt ripped off.

Vowels don't work

I'm an adult SLP grad student with no history of any articulation impairment. For this app I can produce R sounds that cause the orange ball to hit the target area on the screen. However NONE of my FRONT vowels hit their targets (those on the left side of the quadrangle). Please adjust and push through an update on this!! Won't be able to use for vowel activities with students. Thanks for the R interface though, quite nice!

Not perfect, but a worthwhile tool

I work with high school kids, and this app has been really useful for treatment resistant /ɹ/. You MUST use a mic!!!

Useful for self eval of vocalic r production

I think this is great for kids who need visual feedback on vocalist r production- the ball really does hover in the R space when a correct production is made. However for the vowels, it is sometimes way off- even their examples- if you press the sample /o/ sound, the ball shows up way down by the /a/ sound. I got it on sale for $9.99 and am happy to have it for the vocalic r sounds anyway, so I recommend it for that specific use at this point.

Love this app, but mic not picking up

The microphone is not picking up sound on either vowel viz or vowel viz pro. I love this app for speech therapy and will enjoy the vocalic /r/ once it is fixed. ...and yes I checked my settings for the apps.
