VoxelReconstruct is a touch-first 3D molecular-assembly puzzle game. You pick atoms from the
periodic table and bond them into molecules and crystals following real chemistry — every
element has its own valence (the number of free radicals it can bond) and atomic radius,
attraction and repulsion derive from size, and a curated bonding whitelist decides which atoms
may join. Grow a molecule past a level's threshold and you win. It's a learn-as-you-play
chemistry game, made for students building an intuition for stereochemical formulas.
[How it plays]
‧ Touch-first: one "Mode" button switches between Navigate (drag to rotate, pinch to zoom) and
Place (tap a free-bond dot to drop an atom)
‧ You place the first atom: an empty molecule grows from the moment you tap — nothing is seeded
‧ You choose the element AND the bond order: single –, double =, triple ≡, and coordinate → (a
lone pair bonding into an empty orbital)
‧ Real chemistry: VSEPR geometry, ionic vs covalent bonds, multi-bonds that merge radicals so
N≡N and O=C=O form naturally
‧ Advanced bonding: coordinate bonds build NH₄⁺, H₃O⁺ and metal complexes, with formal charge /
oxidation state shown (e.g. [Cu(NH₃)₄]²⁺ = +2)
‧ Ring closure: two open atoms that come close can bond directly to close a ring (cyclohexane, etc.)
‧ The full periodic table (118 elements), each with its valence, radius and Jmol CPK colour
‧ Curated levels: each level fixes which pairs may bond and mixes in "trap" elements that won't
stick — a wrong element is a mistake, three mistakes fail the level; some levels also require a
variety of different elements
‧ Full-Table Sandbox: a free-play mode with every element, no mistakes and no failing
‧ Instant English / Traditional-Chinese switch, haptic feedback, progress saved on device (SwiftData)
