Handy GPS for Lake Hartwell!
We got turned around last week while boating, and the map apps on the iPhone were confusing (to us) for getting un-turned around, so we decided to pony up $3 for this lake-specific app, and so far, so good!
Easy to use and is a great assist to staying on track. The map view is simple and shows most common destinations on the lake. When zoomed in gives you streets and subdivisions as well as island names to further help you orient.
To get somewhere, all you do is tap one of the icons, tap ‘Make Wake’, and you get a fairly direct route. You can also go to a specific address by inputting into the search bar, and voila! Google maps pins the address and you can Make Wake right to it.
For $3, this could easily save much more than that in gas for a single wrong turn on a lake the size of Hartwell. I haven’t tried it at night, but I can imagine it could be a tremendous help in limited visibility as well.
