Thank you

Thanks for the new Bridge Pro support!

Wake-up

My favorite hue app does not work on my new Pro Bridge. I hope it can be fixed.

Love this app

When I got my first Hue bulbs this was the app that made them worth the cost. It stopped working for me at one point and I was so happy when it was updated.

Hue offers a gradual on option for lights that is subpar to this experience. The white light just getting brighter is not as pleasant as the gradual shifting of colors offered here.

My one request would be a sunset sequence to cue bedtime.

Thanks for making this!

Great app

This is a great app. Works as intended and very easy to setup and for that, I GI e it 5 star rating.
Would like to see two additions to make this app really stand out from others
1. The ability to set the final intensity of the lights, so they are not so bright.
2. The ability to creat own personal sunrise/sunset themes with transitioning colours. I would even be willing pay if these features were available.
As it is now, I can’t fault it

Fantastic!

I have been hunting for a way to do a good sunrise simulation for a very long time. This app did it easily. Even better, I can have multiple sunrises at different times for different bulbs, so each family member can have their own sunrise wake-up. Thank you!

Wish it worked for Bluetooth only lights

I absolutely love this app. Can you make this work for hue lights that are Bluetooth enabled and do not use a bridge?

Response from developer

Hi, thank you very much for the five stars! It is appreciated. Contrary to what Philips did for the bridge version, it seems that they have not released any API (Application Programming Interface) to allow developers to create apps to control lights with Bluetooth. Unfortunately, it will therefore not be possible to add this feature to this app.

Wake up routines not deleted

Deleted a routine but the wake up lights still initiate the sequence. Need to figure out a way to reset things now -_-

So much better than the Hue app!

I wish there was a routine that did not end in maximum brightness, but the fade in is smooth and the choices are all nice. Kelly’s Favorite is a very natural blue to orange to warm white that is practically like looking out the window at a sunrise. So glad I found this, and many thanks to the author for a ridiculously better way to wake up.

Pretty good

I'm not sure how a free app could be any better at setting the wake up light routine. Easy to use without any extra fluff.

Had a Hue sunrise with closed curtains

Able to set a recurring wake up bedroom light within 2 minutes of opening this app for the first time.

Know that it’s possible to do in iConnectHue (which I used for other purposes), but this one delights me by letting me to do this task so easily and quickly. Haven’t look at the other functions yet, but even if this is the only thing that this app does, I would be happy.

Upgrade lost all my routines

Just upgraded to the latest version from the App Store and lost all my setup.... not good.

Great simple app for sunrise / wake light

If you’re looking for a simple option for a sunrise / wake light for hue that work well, you’ll be happy with this. Thank you to the author for making the app free. One request: make the off time optional. This would make it easier to transition to another routine (e.g. from the official Hue app) — especially helpful in Northern countries having less daylight hours in the winter.

Love it!

What a great idea - I just bought a Hue system and this is the perfect compliment to it.

Siri Shortcuts would make it even that much better. “Hey Siri, turn on my morning wake up alarm.”

Great sunrise simulation app

Easy to use and works as described. Small bug: your “Tom’s favorite, very quick” is described as lasting “30 min” instead of “5 min”. Small request: would love a “Tom’s favorite” that starts in blue light!

Does not work with my hue bulb

Doesn’t work with my hue ambient bulb

Wonderful Hidden Gem

I'm so sad it took me so long to find this app. What a gift! I work nights and during the winter months it's dark when I go to bed and dark when I wake up. I'm sure it's the same for everyone when there's only 7 hours of sunlight a day. It gets depressing. I've become intrigued by the lamps that simulate the sunrise to wake up more gently. Then I thought how I have hundreds of dollars worth of Hue bulbs. I tried to do it on my own at first, and it was okay, but the lights would get stuck on the various shades of red and yellow. I wanted it to move to more white light as it went on. This app is perfect. It's more intuitive than the native Hue app, does everything I wanted and more, and is out there for free. Bravo. It is worth noting that the time you set the alarm for is the time is starts fading in, not the time it reaches full light, like in the native Philips app.

Amazing

Couldn’t find any of the fancier ones to do it and ran across this, absolutely amazing

Love it!

For some reason the wake up setting on the Philips hue app did work so I began searching for an app that would give me a sunrise. This app does it perfectly!!! I like that you can also set a off time too.

Great app to wake up with simulated sunrise

Excellent work! I bought Philips Hue color lights wanting to do just that: improve wake-up in winter months with a simulated sun rise at triggered time.

I was so disappointed by the Hue apps (the one from Philips) not offering anything like that.

Then I looked at many apps. Some free some with fee. OnSwitch is the closest I found, as it includes sunrise and sunset that can be triggered as specific time and it works with the app running in the background. But it still requires the phone to be on and the app running in the background...

This app, hue wake-ups is different: it creates the alarm(s) in the Hue Bridge. 2 big benefits: it is not dependent on your phone after being setup, and other devices with the same app (let's say your spouse phone) can see the same alarms using the same app and turn them on/off as it all resides on the bridge.

One small negative consequence is that other apps will see a set of 5 non-editable alarms for each alarm added with this app (as this is how the author was able to make the sunrise simulation with changing color in phases). But honestly, that's perfectly fine. Well worth having an alarm not depending on the app running.

Rated 4 stars because it is the only app with such feature I could find; and it works very well; and it is free.

Subtracted one star for the following "wish list":
- The app offers 10min and 30mim sunrise simulations; I find it is overall ok, and I understand each was "tuned" to be as good as possible, but a few more options would be appreciated. Maybe at least one in between of 20min if not by 5 min increment...
- Sound alarm at the end of the sunrise cycle (just in case...). Not sure if this is feasible with iOS, but would be great to link alarms created with this app with system alarms on the phone that could trigger regular noise alarm at the end of the sunrise cycle. That would continue to be app independent...

--- Update July 2016 below ---

Philips released the 2nd gen Hue Lights application at the end of April 2016. The new app finally incorporates some of the basics that were missing so far, and that includes the wake-up routine: it produces something close to the light effect of a sun rise, is very easy to setup, and is native to the hub as well (that is: no need to have a working charged cell phone to wake up). It does not have the auto-shutoff, but that can easily be done with a second "turn-off" routine.

Bottom line: this wake-up app is no longer required as it is now native in the official Hue Light app (unless one prefers the author's sun rise simulation).

Exactly as advertised. Please add more customization

Exactly as advertised: a good sunrise simulation that finally starts from low brightness (unlike other free options that start from 50% brightness).
Please add more customization: start from blue/reddish colors etc. , and another preset between 10 and 30 minutes... I usually use 20 min alarm, but anything would be ok.

Another pointer: most hue alarms ask for the final (bright) time, not the start time. I find this a bit confusing.
