About
Wakeward is an alarm clock with a wake-up mission. When the alarm rings, tap Start mission and do something that needs you awake: solve a few sums, shake the phone, scan a code in another room, walk a number of steps or photograph a spot. Dismiss the alarm if you like: until the mission is done, a backup alarm rings again.
HOW IT WORKS
- Set the time, the days it repeats and a label, and choose a mission for the alarm
- Wakeward plans backup alarms in advance with Apple's AlarmKit
- A Wakeward alarm rings even in Silent mode and Do Not Disturb
- Finish the mission in Wakeward and the remaining backups are cancelled
- Stop the alarm without the mission and a backup rings again
- "Comes back for" sets how long the backups are planned: 6, 10, 16 or 20 minutes
- Don't need a mission for an alarm? Switch it off and it becomes a plain alarm: Stop turns it off
FIVE MISSIONS
- Math: solve a few sums (free)
- Shake: shake the phone until the count runs out (free)
- Scan a code: get up and scan a QR code or barcode you registered, like the one on your toothpaste (Plus)
- Walk: walk a number of steps; the phone can stay in your pocket (Plus)
- Photo: get up and photograph a spot you registered, like the kitchen counter, compared on your iPhone (Plus)
Choose easy, medium or hard. Try any mission first with Try it now, no alarm involved.
ALWAYS A WAY OUT
- The iOS Stop control is never blocked
- When an alarm's mission is on screen, the Emergency stop is always at the bottom: hold it for 3 seconds, then confirm. After 6 failed tries or 10 minutes a tap is enough. It cancels the remaining alarms
- If a shake, walk, scan or photo mission is not done after 2 minutes (scan and photo: or after 3 failed tries), or the camera or motion sensor is not available, the mission screen offers a math mission instead
RING CHECK AND RELIABILITY CENTRE
- The Alarms tab shows a Ring check. It shows how many alarms are armed ("2 of 2 armed") only when alarms are allowed and every alarm you switched on is armed; otherwise it names what needs attention
- The Reliability centre in Settings shows the alarm permission, what is armed and the next ring, Low Power Mode, volume and app-lock tips, the alarm limit, and has a 60-second test alarm
FREE AND WAKEWARD PLUS
Free: one alarm, the Math and Shake missions, the full backup chain, and Try it now for every mission.
Wakeward Plus: unlimited alarms and the Scan a code, Walk and Photo missions. Plus is a yearly subscription with a free trial for new subscribers, a monthly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Family Sharing is supported.
Alarms you already have are never locked: they keep their mission and can be stopped, switched on or off and edited, with or without Plus.
PRIVACY
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no tracking
- Your alarms, mission history and reference photo stay on your iPhone
- The photo comparison and the step counting run on your iPhone
- Wakeward has no server and does not send your alarms, photos or results anywhere
GOOD TO KNOW
- Wakeward alarms use the system default sound and have no snooze
- Alarms use the ringer and alarm volume in Settings > Sounds & Haptics; check it before you rely on an alarm
- Backups for your next alarm are planned each time Wakeward runs: when you open it, stop an alarm or finish a mission
- iOS limits how many alarms one app can schedule, and backups count
- English interface. Requires iOS 26 or later. iPhone only
