What's New in Wander
1.6
August 4, 2026
Shape your routes exactly how you traveled, and never lose a Wander. This release adds waypoints, Smart Folders, automatic iCloud backups, and a Recently Deleted safety net. NEW • Waypoints — drop or search for an extra place and bend a leg of your route through it. Set a waypoint as the Start or End so the line draws from the station before your first photo, or past your last. Make it a round trip that returns home, and give a waypoint its own elevation so your climb chart tells the whole story. • Smart Folders — folders that fill themselves from rules, like runs with Ben but not Sam. Set conditions by activity and people, and matching Wanders appear on their own. • Backups — your whole library backs up to your own iCloud Drive, on a daily schedule if you like, and restores if anything ever goes wrong. • Recently Deleted — deleting is undoable now. Deleted Wanders wait 30 days so you can bring them back. • Favorite People — favorite the people you travel with, and they sit at the top when you tag them. • A tidier Logbook — All Wanders sits up top with your folders below, and search, sort, and filters live right in each list. • Better share images — drag and pinch to frame your route exactly how you like, pick a standard or satellite backdrop, and add a cover photo up top. REFINED • Faster imports and fewer routing failures, tuned to run smoothly on older iPhones. • Big Wanders keep building even if you leave the app — or you can cancel and start over — with an honest progress estimate along the way. • Sync trouble is now surfaced in Settings instead of failing quietly. • Lots of small polish across the Timeline, folders, People, and playback. Private by design: no account, no ads, no tracking. Your Logbook syncs through your own iCloud, not our servers. Go Wander.

FAQ
What is Wander?
Wander is a free navigation app that transforms your geotagged photos into a visual map of your walk. It automatically creates a route between your photo locations, allowing you to replay your journey and see where you took each picture.
How does Wander create routes?
Wander uses the geotag and capture time from your photos to build a street-locked walking path. Photos without location data or a date are skipped. The app processes this information locally on your device.
Can I replay my walk with Wander?
Yes, Wander allows you to replay your entire walk. A marker travels along the route, and a picture-in-picture viewer displays the photo taken at each stop as you pass it.
Does Wander have ads?
No, Wander is ad-free. The app is designed with privacy in mind and does not include advertisements or analytics.
How are my walks saved and organized in Wander?
Every walk is automatically saved with a generated name and can be sorted into folders, browsed by date, or reordered. You can also rename walks at any time.
Is Wander available on Android devices?
Currently, Wander is only supported on iPhones. It is built natively on Apple Maps and utilizes iCloud for private syncing across your Apple devices.
What is the elevation chart feature in Wander?
Wander includes an elevation chart that shows your climb and descent along the route. It reads altitude data from your photos' GPS information and syncs this with the playback scrubber.
How often is Wander updated?
Wander was last updated on June 23, 2026, with version 1.4. This indicates a relatively recent update, suggesting ongoing development and maintenance.
