I would give this 5 stars if there was no barrier, accurate cannons, fair opponents (not 1 wave of tiny ships and 2 waves of over powered ships) basically make the 2nd level possible
Play as pirates.
The game needs to let people to be able to play as pirates like the black pearl, the flying dutchman, and the queen anne's revenge. If it had people to be able to play as pirates I will rate it 5 stars and I think a lot more people will buy the game and love it.

I tried getting into it. I really did, but it's pretty boring unless you're got very low standards.

great demo for good game
i found the App was a great demo. Although fun for a demo i was a little dissapointed with the whole game. it seemed as if there was no meaning.... the same levels just with bigger ships. it would be more interesting if you play a role as one ship, and you could choose sides. For example usa- uss constitution. and from there you could upgrade it all the way to the hms vitory. also instead of just the same battles there could be reanactments of batles. this would add to the effect of the game... so if theres ever a warship 2 i would consider this in the making of it. But overall a great demo for a good game- Get it!

This game has a lot of promise...
This game is a lot like Sid Meier's Pirates! on computer, and manages to compare on my new iPhone 4 which is a feat in itself. However, there are a few major things missing before my friends and me will purchase the whole game:
1. MULTIPLAYER--this game is begging for it, and I'm almost overwhelmed it doesn't already have it since it's such an explicitly fundamental component of this type of game.
2. MAPS--there needs to be less boundaries, and land-based port cities to sail into. Get creative! Land can be a boundary instead of out-of-context buoys! And with port cities you could do things like upgrade ship, attack the city, defend it, etc. Lots of room for development.
3. MULTIPLAYER--yes it's that important, literally the deal breaker. Bluetooth, wi-fi you name it. This would be among the very top apps with good real-time multiplayer like in Archetype.
I know these things are possible, so take the opportunity and make these updates! This game exudes promise! If it possessed aforesaid features I would honestly spend $5-10 on the game, and the app. would become a must-have for just about everyone.

Well its fun but i either need more lives or less stges for next area cuz i keep dieing
Fun but cheap game...
It takes a while to clear each area with 4 phases, need to have some kind of saving system so we can carrying on after receiving a call or something! And put some boats status info or something, don't know what the he'll we buying and upgrading for, looks so cheap at this point!
Best war game ever for sailing ships
Even the free version is amazingly authentic, simple to play, and has graphics perfectly tailored for the iPhone / Touch. They've even included realistic ocean and cannon sounds that do not require earbuds for good effect. The "tiller" mode is much better for me than using the accelerometer to turn the ships. As with everything, a Pogo stylus will make it much more fun. I end up using tactics much as were actually used in the days of sail, which says a great deal for its authenticity. Try the free one, but it'll get you hooked. No crashes or problems of any kind with iOS 4.0.

3. When using the wheel, you have to TAP the ship, which means reaching across the screen, obscuring your vision.

Solid game!
I previously downloaded 'Warships' seeing as I've had a naval warfare obsession this week, this game is very fun. Not quite addicting, but very fun.
The good & bad -
Good:
I. Graphics are on point.
II. Gameplay is smooth.
III. 'Area 3' is probably the best, addition of the companion ship is nice.
Bad:
I. Should be a way to slow down or stop the ship.
II. Being able to manage the companion ship, as in strategy, so it's not mindlessly wandering about.
III. A bigger map. Which I'm sure there probably is in the full version.
IV. Sometimes the barrels add nothing?that's annoying when trying to buy upgrades.
Overall, worth downloading because it's free. And has a small feel of Pirates of the Caribbean.... ;)

I love the game. But maybe some special abilities and online multiplayer would make it perfect. I will buy the full version, but please add new content! Maybe crew to add abilities, and a way to customize the look of your ship :)
