Fire Country

If you live in Fire Country, and it’s getting to seem like all of us do, Watch Duty is not just useful, it’s required.

excellent app

it is invaluable in my work as a news director of 4 radio stations in wyoming and only if the only apps i paid for, even though i could use it for free

Great and Timely

On these times this is a good source of info for crisis in the region and a good overall view

As bad as it is that fire exists, more likely because someone started a fire either carelessly or intentionally, this app provides the information that we all want and need. Thank you for adding a membership feature.

thank you SO much

this was and continues to be a lifesaver during these wildfires, thank you so much for this amazing app

Essential, Easy to use

It’s obvious why this app won a design award. It contains a tremendous amount of essential information yet so natural to navigate. Alerts are relevant and timely. I’ve used the free version for the past year and got all the basic info needed to stay safer. Decided to subscribe recently to an annual plan to support their mission and gain some additional information layers. Highly recommend.

Best fire app

I've tried at least 5 different apps for tracking wildfires, and this is by far the best of them all. No annoying ads popping up, accurate info and notifications, easy to use but also packed with features for those who want or need them!

Knowing what is happening where and how in real time.

Must have!

Honestly, I can’t imagine living without this app. It’s been indispensable for years, but this summer, the fire happened to be on my own property. That’s a scary thing to see when you look down!

A critical and amazing app!

I live in a rural area, have a lot of animals and don’t spend hours and hours a day on social media (really not at all) or checking my phone constantly… this app is a life saver literally with local push notifications etc. I can keep track of what’s actually happening in real life. Thank you, thank you for an accessible life saving solution by real people, helping real people that are often overlooked in this (social media) age 💝

Great App

Appreciate Watch Duty’s coverage of local fires. Thank you!

Thank you from Utah

We live on a ridge next to wilderness and this app has been a huge help. We love that it keeps us updated. We used it the past two months and it’s time to donate!

Continuous Updates

Living in a wildfire zone where we recently had a rapidly moving fire in proximity to our location, this app is a must to stay current on the range of a given fire and its containment. You don’t need to rely on standard news sources because Watch Duty provides continuous updates.

Real time fire warnings

We live in a high fire danger zone and so do our families in neighboring counties.
Really helpful to get immediate warnings of fires that could affect us or our families.

Watch Duty

This app is a joke! It’s much needed where I live, because I live in the middle of nowhere, where wildfires can happen fast and burn thousands of acres.
The problem is, if there’s a fire anywhere that is not near me, I get constant updates. BUT, if there’s a fire very near me, I am waiting for ever for updates. Also the reporting is HORRIBLE and Inaccurate!
Today, September 2nd there is a fire called Gibby. At 3:29 the reporter posts, the fire is 450 acres with a potential of a thousand. THEN at 4:36, he reports the fire is now 250 acres with a potential of 300 acres. So which is it? If I wanted inaccurate news, I would watch CNN. But this is a much needed fire watch app, that should report ACCURATE information.
This is why I will never pay for this app.

25.00 a year, for once a year use!

So much for public safety. These people need to make their money. Not worth $25 a year but because there’s a fire in my area and my local officials won’t report on it, I have to come here and pay money.

This might actually save your life

I got this app a year or two ago and it’s giving me notifications for serious fires near my home. Just got a notification today. I drove around the corner huge Pluma smoke from a nearby brushfire. This is probably one of the most legitimate useful app in my phone. Whoever developed this, I’m super grateful. I live in Southern California California in a pretty dry area where fires are a real thing.

Best wildfire resource available

Watch Duty is an absolute lifeline for people living in the West. Information is always accurate, well-sourced, and digestible, and the app gives incredibly easy access to official sources to confirm reports. As long as the app stays this easy to use and access, I will continue to recommend Watch Duty to anyone who lives in a fire-prone area or knows someone who does.

Essential, incredible, and always getting better.

This app is powered by people that care and want to offer something for others that’s extraordinarily useful, in fact, life-saving. And it shows. They’re always adding new things, including now the advanced heat mapping, flood detection. air quality information and power outage alerts. It’s just as if they sit there and wonder what people might need and then just figure out how to do it. I appreciate the developers so so much. Thanks for this incredible resource.

Normally great but fails when needed

Normally great at notifying when a fire is in my county. However, recently I have found fires on the app in my county (yes, I’ve checked multiple times to ensure notification are turned on) that watchduty decided to not to not notify me about. As I write this, one fire is less than a mile from my property. WATCHDUTY PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! If county notifications are on, actually notify users when a fire is happening. It’s literally the point of the app.
