FAQ
What is Waycar?
Waycar is an iPhone and iPad app that allows you to connect to and control coding agents and shells running on your Mac or Linux computer via Mosh or SSH. It displays terminal text and allows you to interact with your remote sessions.
What do I need to use Waycar?
You need a Mac or Linux computer accessible via SSH, running herdr or tmux 3.2 or later. Your commands and code execute on your computer, while Waycar displays the terminal output on your device.
How does Waycar handle AI agents?
When using AI agents like Claude Code or Codex, Waycar can enter a 'Chat Mode' that presents the interaction as a simple chat interface. It shows your messages, the agent's replies, and any images or videos it generates.
Can I use my existing tmux sessions with Waycar?
Yes, Waycar integrates with tmux. Your existing tmux sessions will appear as workspaces within Waycar, allowing you to manage, open, and message agents directly from your phone.
What are the limitations of the free version of Waycar?
The free version of Waycar allows for 10 'Launches' within any rolling 30-day period. A Launch is defined as starting a new agent or shell, or resuming a closed agent. Opening and reading existing sessions does not count towards this limit.
How much does Waycar Pro cost?
Waycar Pro is available via subscription. In the US, it costs $5 per month or $40 per year. Prices in other countries are displayed in the app before purchase. Payment is handled through your Apple Account.
How do I cancel my Waycar Pro subscription?
You can manage or cancel your Waycar Pro subscription at any time within your Apple Account settings. The subscription renews automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
Does Waycar have ads?
No, Waycar does not contain advertisements. The app is free to download and use with certain limitations, and offers an optional paid subscription for full access.
