About
You head out to run or walk in the countryside. Someone at home is left wondering whether you made it back.
Waypost is one button. You press it when you leave, and your contacts get an email with where you are, a map of that spot, and the time of the last point. Every few minutes, another one. When you're back, a message saying so.
They don't have to install anything. No account, no invitation to accept, no new app to learn. They get an email. Your mother knows how to open an email.
ONE BUTTON
• START and STOP. There is nothing else on the main screen.
• You choose how often: 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
• An email when you leave, at every check-in, and when you return. The first two can be switched off.
WHAT YOUR PEOPLE GET
• A map of where you are right now, with the last points you passed listed underneath.
• Distance covered, altitude, elevation gain and the pace you are keeping.
• A link to open your exact position in Google Maps.
• Your battery level, so they know if your phone is about to die.
• The time of the alert, and when the next one should arrive.
BUILT FOR PLACES WITH NO SIGNAL
• Nothing is lost off-grid: alerts that fail are queued and sent as soon as the network comes back.
• Works with the phone locked and in your pocket.
• Not-moving alert: if you stay in the same place too long, the email says so in red at the top.
YOUR LOCATION IS YOURS
It goes to the people whose email address you typed, and to nobody else. No public profile, no social network, no permanent tracking: it is only sent while a route is active, and it stops the moment you press STOP. No account, no password, no ads.
For anyone who hikes alone, runs at night, walks the dog on back roads, or simply wants the people at home to stop worrying.
