About
WBRZ Relay is the talent-facing companion to the WBRZ-LA broadcast intercom system. It connects on-air talent, field reporters, and remote crew to the station's control room over a low-latency audio bridge.
Sign-in is restricted to @wbrz.com Google Workspace accounts. The app is intended for WBRZ-LA staff and authorized contractors only — it has no functionality for the general public and will not sign in users outside the WBRZ Workspace.
Features:
• Four IFB (interruptible foldback) channels — listen to program audio and director cues from any IFB room you're
routed into.
• Partyline channel with push-to-talk — hold the on-screen button to speak to the entire crew; release to listen.
• Video Monitor — watch the program-return feed from the station's encoder, low-latency over WebRTC.
• Per-channel listen toggles, independent of the partyline mic.
• Background audio support so cues keep playing when the phone is locked or another app is in the foreground.
Relay pairs with a station-side server installed at WBRZ that handles channel routing, talent rostering, and the audio/video bridge. The server URL is configured by station engineering; the app will not connect to arbitrary endpoints.
Designed for newsroom workflow: minimal UI, large hit targets for one-handed use, and a status display that makes connection issues easy to spot in a noisy field environment.

Fixed an issue where backgrounding the app for a minute and coming back into foreground would cause the audio channels to not connect properly.
