About

Weather Alert is a focused fire-weather monitoring app built for the Joe Rich area of the Central Okanagan, BC — designed to give residents, firefighters, and anyone who cares about wildfire risk a clear, real-time picture of the conditions that matter most. FIRE WEATHER ALERTS Get notified the moment conditions turn dangerous. Alerts are organized into three risk levels that escalate with the actual danger: • Low — high temperature alone • Medium — high temperature combined with low humidity (Hot & Dry Conditions) • High — high temperature, low humidity, and strong wind together (Fire Weather Warning) Only the single most severe match ever notifies you, so you're never bombarded with redundant alerts. TWO WEATHER STATIONS, YOUR CHOICE Choose which live station drives your alerts — the primary local sensor, or a neighboring station with its own wind sensor. View one at a time with a swipe, or both side-by-side at once. LIGHTNING ALERTS Get pushed a notification the moment a lightning strike is detected within a radius you choose (5, 10, 20, or 30 km) of the station, powered by the community Blitzortung.org lightning network. Runs entirely server-side, so alerts still arrive even when the app is closed or your phone is asleep. LIVE WIND MAP See current wind speed and direction at a glance, plus the regional wind pattern across the surrounding area — helpful context for understanding how fire risk might spread. 5-DAY FORECAST Current conditions and forecast, including UV index and air quality (PM2.5), so you have the full picture in one place. BACKGROUND ALERTS Every alert — fire weather or lightning — can reach you even when the app is closed, thanks to background push notifications. YOUR PRIVACY Weather Alert collects nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. All your settings stay stored locally on your device, and notifications are delivered only through Apple's own push service. Nothing about you is ever collected or shared.
