What's New in Weather Belt

1.0.3

July 17, 2026

What's New in This Version Smarter Alerts, Not Just More of Them Weather Belt now scores every alert by real severity, actual proximity, and your personal Risk Profile — so what matters most rises to the top instead of competing equally with distant advisories. Tap the (i) icon on any Home alert to see exactly why it's showing you what it's showing you. Honest Watch vs. Warning Language We reviewed every hazard type in the app — Tornado, Severe Thunderstorm, Flood, Hurricane, Winter Storm, Blizzard, Ice Storm, Tropical Storm, and Wildfire — and fixed cases where Watch-tier alerts were showing Warning-tier urgency (like evacuation language on a Hurricane Watch). Now the words match the actual threat level, every time. Offline Emergency Region Packs Download map tiles for your area in advance. When connectivity drops during a real emergency, your map keeps working instead of going blank. More Accurate Flood Risk Guidance The Flood Risk banner now distinguishes between a flood warning right next to you and one 40 miles away in a different watershed — no more "move to higher ground" messaging for regional threats that don't apply to your exact location. Fixed: Severe Weather Hidden Behind Clear Skies Corrected a rare but important issue where an active Tornado or Severe Thunderstorm Warning could display alongside a "Clear" or "Sunny" condition label. Active warnings now always show clearly, regardless of local sky conditions. Honest Data Source Labels Air Quality, UV Index, and Stargazing Score now clearly disclose when a reading is a modeled estimate versus a live ground-station measurement — including a note that Air Quality models can lag behind fast-moving events like wildfire smoke. Smarter Confidence Display Replaced a confusing precise-looking confidence percentage on Unified Threat Assessment with clear HIGH / MEDIUM / LOW language, matching the rest of the app. Visual Fix: Accurate Moon Phase Corrected the Moon's shading on the Home hero card — crescents and gibbous phases now render with proper astronomical geometry, and waxing/waning correctly shows lit-on-the-right per Northern Hemisphere convention. Also in This Release Improved Recommended Action guidance across nine hazard types, with clearer distinctions between prepare-now and act-now situations Precipitation percentage now shows "0%" instead of a blank space on dry forecast hours Cleaned up map alert detail text and offline fallback messaging General accuracy and reliability improvements throughout As always: no subscriptions, no ads, no telemetry. Just a weather app that takes severe weather — and your trust — seriously.
