Thanks for the candid feedback. I have rebuilt inspect mode, please update to the latest version. The popup that covered the page is gone, element details now live inside the panel, the panel shrinks out of the way while you're picking an element, you get hover/tap highlighting before you click, you can keep selecting elements (and walk up to parents or down to children), and there's a search box to find elements by text or CSS selector. The lag is fixed too — the panel no longer re-renders the whole page on every open or tab switch. If you have a moment to give 1.2 another try, I'd love to know if it now does what you needed — and if it does, an updated review with 5 stars would mean a lot.
