Just missing a glossary!
My favorite part about this dictionary is how detailed the etymological records are but I frequently run into moments where I don’t understand the codes! And in my favorite dictionary, it would be amazing to have a “how to read this dictionary” section. Please? 🥹🙏🏽✨

This dictionary has the most eloquently written definitions, it’s almost poetry at times. Incredibly grateful to have found it! If only I could make it my default dictionary on iPhone, I’d be asking Siri to define everything
An essential iPhone app
One of the very few apps that make me happy I switched from an Android device to an iOS device. Simple, performative, and polished.

Great dictionary, use it all the time. People who complain about its “incompleteness” are just complainers who are always in the need to complain about anything, or their day is not a success, is incomplete (“Polis” give me a break!). I love it, and LOVE the fact that it doesn’t have any bells & whistles to muddle it up. A must have for any Writer.

Excellent for looking up older English Words
This dictionary is a got to have for older English works and I really enjoy using it with my Bible. I rely on it more than I ever thought I would.
Lack fundamental words
Words such as “polis” are not included. So what’s the use?
A lovely writer's dictionary. A true friend.
Provides not only a literal definition, but a contextual one along with connotations associated with the word in history. For example, looking up a simple definition of the word "fire" in a regular dictionary would yield:
The phenomenon of combustion manifested in light, flame, and heat.
Of course a regular dictionary would also provide other definitions such as burning passion, liveliness of imagination, and firearms.
This dictionary, on the other hand, will provide the same definitions, among many others with notes such as:
Anciently, fire, air, earth, and water were regarded as the four elements of which all things are composed.
Splendor; brilliancy; luster; hence, a star.
Intellectual and moral enthusiasm; capacity for ardor and zeal.
A lovely, reliable, pocket writer's dictionary. A true companion, a gem. It's nice to have a friend.

Wonderful dictionary
I am exceedingly fond (in the modern, not the original, sense) of this dictionary. I use it for everyday word look up but depend on it even more to understand the meanings of words in the 19th or even 17th century. Thanks to the authors of the dictionary and the application!

Not so good
Every third or fourth word I type in cannot be found by this dictionary. I use it primarily for words in English books I read.
Pronunciation
Although it’s an ok site, allowing to hear the pronunciation of words would make this app outstanding.
Very good but widget is too small
The widget now usually does not show a sufficient excerpt of a definition. E.g. today for EMERALD it displays the word plus three and a third lines, which severely cuts off “2. (Print.).”
Can the widget possibly resize to show a bit more and resize not to cut off lines?

Elementary word of the days...
Very disappointed in the word of the day. Rudimentary doesn’t even begin to describe the words everyday. Opera. Whistle. It is almost funny.
I really like it so far
The dictionary is solid, easy to read, and doesn’t contain more contentious entries. That less strict dictionaries may.
There are a few graphical glitches I wanted to point out but the feedback option launches the iOS Mail app. I don’t use that so I have no way of knowing what the dev’s email address is.
