About

LOOK BEFORE THE LABEL Western Art Atlas helps you practice close looking—not just scroll through a catalog. Begin with Looking Coordinates. Two artworks appear without their titles. Mark the place where your eye landed first in each image, choose a visual lens—light, gesture, or space—then compare your trace with a guided reveal. Every completed session becomes a Looking Record saved on your device. A COMPLETE EXPERIENCE, FREE TO START Download the app for free and complete the first Looking Coordinates lab from beginning to end. No purchase or account is required to reveal the works and save your record. The app includes: • 5 guided Looking Coordinates labs built around distinct artwork pairs • 1 complete lab that remains free • 4 additional labs available with lifetime access • 89 rights-verified catalog artworks: 61 from Getty Open Content and 28 from Smithsonian Open Access • A visible Rights Passport for every artwork, including provider, object ID, declared CC0 basis, evidence date, and official record and policy links • Connected paths through artists, movements, eras, artworks, and looking terms • Local search, on-device Favorites, and saved Looking Records ONE OPTIONAL LIFETIME UNLOCK If you choose to upgrade, one non-consumable in-app purchase permanently unlocks the other four labs and the remaining lifetime features. There is no subscription, automatic renewal, or recurring charge. Your App Store storefront shows the actual localized price, currency, and applicable tax before you confirm. ONE APP ACROSS YOUR DEVICES Use the same universal app on iPhone, iPad, and Mac through Mac Catalyst. English is the default. You can also select Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Japanese, French, or Hindi inside the app. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account, ads, analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking. Favorites, lesson drafts, and Looking Records remain on your device and are not uploaded by the developer. Apple processes the optional purchase; the developer does not receive your card or bank details. RIGHTS YOU CAN INSPECT Every catalog artwork in this release is tied to official Getty or Smithsonian evidence and a declared CC0 1.0 basis. Institution names identify provenance only and do not imply endorsement. Because CC0 evidence does not eliminate every possible privacy, publicity, trademark, moral-rights, or other third-party issue, the app provides the official evidence links for inspection. Western Art Atlas is created to help future artists and lifelong learners look with greater attention, curiosity, and confidence.
