Not safe app

They dont encrypt your password. Please be careful. Dont know why this app passes the app store verification

Old Sightings

Shows sightings 1-2 months old, makes it look like there are many sightings but they are old, unable to filter for recent sightings

Sign up is too slow and complicated

I have been trying to confirm my sign up for 30 mins and now the whales are gone!!!!

I couldn’t see the whales

One star

Awesome app

Great app, was looking forward to this app coming back . 1 suggestion can you note the area of the sighting in the “List”also?. Would help narrow down recent sightings in the area..

PROBLEMS LOGGING IN

Even though you sent me a temporary password!

Always same, miss information

Whale always stay at the same spot, they never move. Does the app even give accurate information?

Inaccurate data

The app is showing my whale results that were spotted 8-10 months ago. It’s not at all accurate.

Response from developer

Hello there, seems you are seeing the default view on the app. Please see on the right there is an icon where you filter sightings by Today, 7 days, 30 days, 90 days and Last 12 months. Depends on where you are viewing the app, we show you the data that is available. Hope this resolves your query. Thank you.

No sightings

Thanks for replying, you are right & I was too early in the season & no one had yet added any sightings! I am having trouble getting into my account to log sightings but I guess eventually I will figure it out.

Response from developer

Hi there, you probably checked this earlier in the season. We rely on community, whale watching enthusiasts, professionals and service providers such as photographers, videographers and generally the whale watching enthusiasts community to keep the sightings coming into the app. The app is also a world wide app now, so not just NSW or just Australia and we are working on our relationships with others around the world. There are a lot more users now, and hence a lot more sightings too on the app. So, thank you for being a user and a whale enthusiast. More so, thank you for your support to an Australian business who has built this app as a free self funded app for the community. Please be on the lookout for a notification as we are also adding a list view with time and date stamps on the sightings. Cheers!

Date filter

Appreciate this may not be new, but a date filter on the map view would be a game changer.

Response from developer

hey there. we have added a list view and a map view that sorts out by latest first (and also what is closest to your device location) but yes – we have a few others who have asked for a filter by date and filter by region too. Please bear with us as we work through this. Thank you. WhaleWatch team @ Mobiddiction

Poor functionality

How do you search recent reports? Always the same tags are shown? No filter options.

Updated comment based on latest app update. yes it has improved however my suggestion to make it more useful based on an app that used to be out there before for the same thing so I’m only copying pasting ideas… P.S. not sure what happened to the old app…

1. Filter options should have recent sighting as in last day and seperate for older sighting so people know what’s relevant.
2. Currently There is a search option with a drop down list, but coordinates is all you get when you click on it not very practical for most people using this for sight seeing. Should take you to the map to see where the sighting was.

Apart from that keep up the good work 🙂

Sorry to disappoint you but but....one star -- that's sad :( You know we've been working on this for several months and is a completely free community driven free designed and built right here in Australian, by a small business with no commercial interest. But please stay tuned as we are soon going to have a list view too so the latest will be on top. This also means you will see the time and date too. We hope you will change your rating once we release this update soon. Our Mobiddiction team is onto it.....Cheers.

Great App Growing day by day

Finally someone has recreated a whale spotting app that works. As a first version it is good and I hear they will add Timestamps this week which will make it GREAT! Then everyone just needs to start reporting accurately.

Thank you so much - we are super thrilled to hear that you love the app. Cheers from our team at Mobiddiction. ps; note that our app is now global too as we look to seeing sightings from all over the globe!

Please add day and time of sighting

Great app but I want to know WHEN the whales were seen please!

Date and time

Please please please add a date and time feature to this!! It would make it so much easier to try and find whales if we knew how recent the sighting was!

Response from developer

Hi there, this has been one of the most common and most requested features. We are adding a tab which will have a list view sorted by latest on the top. This means you will be able to view the sightings by date and time. We will be sure to send out a push notification is ready, we are hoping in the next day or so. As you would appreciate this is a free app built and managed by us in Australia for the community of whale watching enthusiasts so please bear with us. Thank you.

When

The date of the sittings would be helpful.

Whale watch

Nice app but must include date

Include date?

App is easy to navigate but doesn't include the date the whales are spotted, maybe this can be included?

What every whale watcher needs!!

A fantastic app full of great info for both seasoned and occasional whale watchers. Being able to add to whale sightings (including where, how many and what behaviours were see ) makes this a fun, interactive app that the kids can get onboard with too! Love the addition of tour providers. Bring on whale season! 🐋
