Great concept, poor execution

It seems like a good idea as a free sample but that's cuz u r only allowed 4 items on a list for free. When you pay, there is a lot of useless, time wasting stuff as you have to compare ur newest entry with EVERY other list item, when that stuff should be automated.

Edit: The developer said these issues have been fixed so changing my rating to 4 stars

Response from developer

Hi Sooppa1 - Thanks ever so much for your detailed review. I think I've fixed most of these issues. I've recently completely rebuilt Which Thing First? from the ground up. There are multiple lists, the iPad keyboard no longer covers what you're typing, and finished lists reorder themselves so #1 sits at the top. Being straight with you on the one thing I haven't changed: comparing a new item against the others is how the ranking is worked out, so that's still there by design. I'd be really grateful if you gave it another look. All the best, Matt in Yorkshire.

Excellent update

I love this app! Thank you for the update!

Response from developer

Hi wd75004 - I'm so sorry I have taken a long time to put things right. Losing your tasks was never meant to happen :( . I've just released v2, it's a complete rebuild from the ground up with proper, reliable saving, plus multiple lists so you can keep the paper method going for more than one thing at a time. If you still have it installed, your old list should carry across. Once again, I'm so sorry! Please give it another chance! (everyone who bought the upgrade automatically gets the new version). All the best, Matt, West Yorkshire UK.

Does not work

There must be a bug. It does deliver the items you wrote to rank. Sometimes the items duplicate themselves to rank. Some times there is an item and nothing in the next ranking box. And this is with only 4 items in the demo. I’m not going to spend money to see if it “fixes” it.

Response from developer

I’m sorry you found bugs Debrevns. I’ve completely re-written the app in the last few months so please give us another try. The new version has multiple lists, and the keyboard handling should be better behaved. All the best, Matt West Yorkshire, UK.

Bought app twice

Ever time I want to use this app, every few months, I have to purchase this app. Please help. I want to use it, but it keeps asking me to pay for another same upgrade. I don’t want to pay for a third time.

Response from developer

I'm so sorry Arlynn1 - being asked to pay again was never meant to happen :( I've just released v2.0 of the app. It's a complete rebuild from the ground up, has multiple lists, and fixes the problem properly: the one-time upgrade is a proper purchase that restores automatically on all your devices - no paying twice, ever. All the best, Matt.

Life saver

This app actually is a massive help on my daily life as I have dyspraxia and find it difficult to organise myself :) thank you so much 🥰

Great way to prioritize

Does what it was designed to do.

Very simple app good idea

Like the idea a lot but wish I could
-Have more than one task list for more than one job/place.
-Type more words for individual tasks.
-Move a task to the top priority spot given a near immediate situation.

I liked the idea but only four tasks without purchase it’s an app with the goal to simplify prioritizing and it limits you to simple amounts of tasks to prioritize without purchasing.... lol.

Hi JL! Thanks for leaving a review of my Which Thing First app a few years ago. Just to let you know I've released v2.0 of the app. It's a complete rebuild and supports multiple lists. I would be grateful if you gave it another look. All the best, Matt.

One of my favourite apps and great tech support

This is such a useful and simple app to use. I love it. I would recommend it to everyone as it makes life just that little bit simpler. It’s a must have app for me and great tech support too - cheers :)

Still use it. Still love it.

Helpful - room for improvement

Using the free version for now — had seen another similar app recommended but only available in Google Store. Would be better if list itself reorganized top to bottom; #1 on top, etc. It doesn’t do that, but does label priority of items 1,2,3,4.

Response from developer

Hi Yonah Thanks for leaving a review of my Which Thing First app some years ago. Just to let you know I've released v2.0 of the app. It's a complete rebuild, supports multiple lists, and items do reorganize after all the comparisons have been done. I would be grateful if you gave it another look. All the best, Matt.

Excellent app

Does as it says...excellent app!! Boxy07

Need Multiple Lists

Can't buy this until thee is the ability to create more than one list. The ability to export would be great also.

Hi Brien in Florida Thanks for leaving a review of my Which Thing First app years ago(!). Just to let you know I've released v2.0 of the app. It's a complete rebuild and supports multiple lists. I would be grateful if you gave it another look. All the best, Matt in Yorkshire.

Great Tool for Multi-taster

This is a great app for me. When over a dozen big or small problems in your life keeps pressing and you don’t know which one to deal first? Then this is just the great app. I used to draw diagram on paper to prioritise them using the similar method but it’s just so time consuming. Please keep upgrading the app. 😊

Lost my tasks

I loved this app! I used to do this binary choice method of decision-making on paper all the time and I have used this app for years. It had been working great again, but now it’s defaulting to the standard list and not saving the tasks I entered.
Please fix! Thank you!

The Best & Fastest Prioritizer

First of all, there arent many of these types of apps available. Maybe 2 or 3. But this one is the simplest, fastest one. Using this for my daily priorities, and am running a nonprofit, a copywriting business, and keeping my business relationships moving forward. This app is invaluable. When I'm managing my day, I need something that will cut through the clutter and distractions... fast.. and help steer me to the important things as quickly as possible. This app does the job hands down.

Response from developer

Hi Kurt4i - thank you, and sorry it's taken me this long to say so. "Cut through the clutter fast" is exactly what I was aiming for, so that meant a lot to read. v2.0 is out now, a complete rebuild, with multiple lists - handy if you're keeping the nonprofit and the copywriting business separate. All the best, Matt in Yorkshire.

Great concept, poor execution

It seems like a good idea as a free sample but that's cuz u r only allowed 4 items on a list for free. When you pay, there is a lot of useless, time wasting stuff as you have to compare ur newest entry with EVERY other list item, when that stuff should be automated. E.g. If u have shopping, pay rent, find folder, cut keys on ur list and you have put them in that order of priority. Then you add "fix computer" and tell the program it is more important than shopping, I.e. Priority #1,...... you shouldn't have to then tell the program that is also more important than everything else on list one by one - esp if you add 40 items!! You have to make 40 decisions just to put an item at #1! However there should be an option to re-prioritize a list but not to have to do it every time by default!

Even worse, iPad keyboard covers the part of the list I was writing, so have to guess you are typing without error and shrink keyboard every time to check. Again this problem doesn't show up on the free version.

I hope the developer fixes all this, bc a great idea. Will change my rating if so.

Ideally would also have color categories, multiple lists etc.

Otherwise, Someone else will do it first!

Essential App to determine prioritization

I'm modifying my review because this app is no longer supported. I found a better app though, that does what this did and allows multiple lists. It's called WhatsNext Prioritisation. I recommend it to those who loved this app like me!

My original review: "Other prioritization apps don't do what this one does so perfectly -- actually determine the sequential priority of your task list. You enter all your current tasks like any other app has you do. But the brilliant thing here is that the program then compares two of those tasks at a time in every combination. Each time you simply choose the most urgent of the two. The results of the comparisons determine which tasks should be done first. Thank you for allowing me to easily do "first things first!"

Hi mark4strom Thanks ever so much for your review, and sorry I have left it so long to update the Which Thing First app. I've just released v2.0 of the app. It's a complete rebuild from the ground up, and supports multiple lists. I would be grateful you you gave it another look. All the best, Matt.

very limited- not worth an upgrade

concept is solid. but the app itself awkward to use. adding to dos is cumbersome, and there's no checkbox to mark complete. free version limited to 4 tasks in total, didn't feel it was worth the 1.99 to upgrade. deleted app after 5 minutes.

Response from developer

Hi lefty7guitar - Thanks for your review a loooong time ago! I've just released v2.0, a complete rebuild: adding items is much quicker, there are multiple lists, and the free version now gives you two lists of four items rather than four items in total. It's still no checkbox to mark things complete, but I should be able to work that in to a forthcoming release. Worth another five minutes if you're curious. (Better late than never?) All the best, Matt, in Yorkshire, England.

Good - not great

Easiest pair-compare I've found. However it only allows for one list. It should provide the ability to create multiple lists.
Example. An Office list, A Home list - Hobby Project list(s)

Response from developer

Hi DSCme - only fourteen years late (!), but you can now have an Office list, a Home list and as many hobby project lists as you like. The new v2+ is a complete rebuild and has multiple lists. Thanks for the suggestion - you were the first to ask. Please come back! All the best, Matt.

Love its concept

When i have a long list of things to do but cannot decide on the priority, this app really helps me make the decision. It's one the only app that does this actually. So I give 5 star for Its concept, less one star for oversimplified UI.

Response from developer

Thank you 作什么, and apologies for the very slow reply! I recently release v2. of Which Thing First? It's a complete rebuild from the ground up with a proper modern design, multiple lists, and an animation that brings your ranked list to life. I'd love to know if it's earned that star back. All the best, Matt in sunny Yorkshire England.

A Really Helpful App

What can I say? its a simple app with a purpose. A real joy to use with an excellent, streamlined user interface for quickly prioritising tasks.
