Awesome & EASY TV color accuracy check 6500k

Dude this app is extremely useful and quick if you want to check the color accuracy white balance of your television.I own a TV that really runs cold. Skin tones looked magenta. I don’t have the money or resources to get my TV professionally calibrated, so I adjusted the white balance of the TV myself until it perfectly matched the standard 6500K. Before it was 7500K. I have a professional OLED monitor that is VERY color accurate out of the box, and now there is absolutely no discernible difference between the TV and reference monitor in terms of accurate colors. This app is incredibly useful. One star has been knocked off because the app locks you out completely after 14 days if you don’t give them money. But at least if you DO give them money, you get what you pay for.

Response from developer

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review - I'm really happy to hear you got your TV matched to the professional monitor at 6500K! Sorry for the 14 day limit - I need to make a living somehow. Thanks again for your review, it is very appreciated!

One Shot

I had nothing but ads after using it once.
Update: the developer had a courteous explanation to the proliferation of ads I encountered. One in which I understood and accepted. Changing my rating now.

Accurate CTM

Typically a special device is required to get accurate readings but this app does a great job using a standard iPhone15! The provided tips really improve accuracy as well. Well worth the one-time $10 cost!

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and the detailed review! Great that you confirmed the accuracy — that really means a lot to hear. And glad the tips are making a difference too. Enjoy the app!

Not free

Doesn’t let you do anything unless you get an in-app purchase.

If it’s not a free app, don’t list it as a free app!

Super handy!!!!

This is a super useful tool

Cinematographer

When you walk into a room and there is no certainty what color temperature (Kelvins) is your source lighting or sources that are coming into the scene, this tool is an easy way to start knowing! I use the Kelvin Meter to measure color temperature at every shoot and it is very close if not exact most of the times.

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! It's really great to hear from a cinematographer using Kelvin Meter on set. Great that you confirmed its accuracy! Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience!

Great

Ended up buying both the nits meter and this. Very handy and surprisingly accurate

Easy, effective and exact

Is really a good user interface, uses the native architecture of the camera and is really accurate, great for art, stage and making sure the colours you use really reach their full potential

Doesn’t work

I can not figure how to use this

Excellent App to get ideal white balance

I found this app to be very good indeed - easy and intuitive to use and gives great results. I’m looking forward to an updated version that provides additional green-magenta bias data for my OM Systems OM3 although even without this the app delivers great results. Despite how good AWB is on many modern cameras it’s so much better and easier to get the right balance when shooting rather than trying to correct in post processing.

Paid for app/ updated/ then had to review???

I paid for the app then I updated the app and then it has a request to rate app and that request will not go away.

Top Photography App

Love this app, being able to take a reading of light in the room for what flash gel correction I need to apply * in live time* is fab. Also gives recommended white balance mode for camera which means less thinking time required.

Great

Fun to use. Seems good

Student

It works!

Light app

Very helpful to test light source and reflected light

Nicely accurate, better than all the others!

I downloaded 3-4 kelvin meters and all the others were quite off on the warm side. I was reluctant to sign up for a 3 day trial with this one but soon realized that it is worth it and miles better than the other ones. Great for shooting with cameras that either have an auto white balance that doesn’t tell you what the measurement is or cameras that need to be set with a kelvin temp manually.

Really appreciate your detailed feedback from your comparative analysis! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Great App

Love this app. Has really helped me dial in on proper white balance.

Very good design

Very thoughtfully designed and easy to use. Results seem correct (or highly plausible, at least) though I haven’t another meter to compare them against.

Response from developer

Thank you so much! It makes me happy to hear!

Awesome

I wish the button was easier to save the WB where my thumb could hit it, as well I’d pay more for this devs combined apps into one easy to use app
